FJR 1300 NC Ebay

I know little other than what I have heard of this model Yamaha (FJR 1300) and all of it is good. Is this a good/bad deal on one? Are they worth having?

Good price, and they're quick. Surprised that there was no 6th gear for being a touring bike.

What for? Leave 6th for the Harleys. These bikes live at high RPM.

Somewhere around that time Yamaha made a change to get some of the heat off the driver. I don't remember which model that was. It won't haul as much junk as a GoldWing.

Yamaha "upgraded" the fairing, adding a wider range of adjustment for the windscreen and an adjustable section in the knee area.

And, according to Yamaha, the rider was better insulated from engine heat starting with the '06 model.

The bike in this thread is an '07, so it should have all those improvements ... judging by the photos, it definitely looks to have the "newer" fairing ...

That seems like a high price to me. There are 2 Kawasaki concourse 14's here for less than that and one has like 6,000 miles on it. I think both are 2010's. I am a cheapskate though.

Mike the FJR is a Sport Touring rocket...similar to the ST1100/ST1300 by Honda but the Yamahas' have more hp and are sportier in handling...they are more oriented towards Sport in the Sport/Touring equation but will still do LD touring just fine. Its a fine bike and love that year's color...but i think even with the low miles its still a tad overpriced... Not a bad deal and they are worth owning..I've demo ridden one and loved it...it fit me well too.

Yeah that ain't right...I also didnt like the way the pics are showing the bike...first the standard Yamaha studio shots and then pics of the panniers i presume off the bike and at least one looks scratched up...then the rest of the pics are poor and dont show the panniers mounted on the bike I just dont get a good vibe for this one...but thats me...

I've owned the 2001 and after some other bikes I now own the 2010.
I prefer the first model because it handles better (suits my driving style better is more like it, i think).
Some people say that is the result of the longer swingarm on the newer bike. I already raised the rear and although it handles differently now, I'm still not convinced.
But you have to find out yourself if it suits you as you haven't ridden it before. My bet is you'll like it (a lot).

Having owned both a Gen1 and now a Gen2 FJR, you would be more than qualified to tell us ...

I just looked at the photos, that is the 2007 Black Cherry color, the only year it was made. I have the same model, with 57,000+ miles on it. Except for some scratches mine is "like new" also.
Yes the "new" fairing started on the 2006. That supposedly channeled the heat better, I cannot compare but some owners of both have said it is better.

From the scratches I think it was dropped both sides, my guess it was parked when it tipped. Problem is you cannot tell if it hit hard or soft. Usually a tip-over with these newer bikes causes only scratches on the tupperware. Should lower the price. Looks like he took Blue Book and subtracted a couple hundred for the scratches.

These sport-tourers are a LOT of fun, fast and comfortable over distances. The Connie, the FJR, others of that ilk are all very similar, and do great things on the road. I ride mine 2-up all the time, I have been to a lot of places, worn out a lot of tires.

Without researching, I would be happy at $6500, ignore the scratches, but test the bike for bent handle bars. Note that I only get 6-7000 miles on a rear so his is possibly worn quite a bit.

I hope he gets his price, that makes mine worth that much more.

Over on the FJR forum I aske folks there what they thought about this bike forsale and all of the responses were positive...its worth the price...but I forgot to mention the scratched pans...so it would be worth a little less than the asking price...like Marty said...about $6500 is a happy place...

a couple things i didnt like about that auction...one was the comment abt the license plate going with the bike...secondly pictures were not presented well enough and the seller makes no mention of the scratches on the pans...the price seems to be close to a good deal...the used bike market is not doing too well right now...I just tried twice to sell my ST on ebay and both auctions failed...I know what its worth and people just dont want to pay that so screw it...cause i'm not giving it away...i'd rather keep it and ride it in that case...
