ST1100 Honda

Just aquired this to do a bit of touring, PO painted it military green for some reason, was Candy red but very faded in places due to coming from Oz. In the process of putting it back as close as possible to OG colour. These bikes are known to be bullet proof and used by many police forces.

Looks like it should be a good STeed! Despite the paint, it looks fairly clean. My vote is that you should go wild with the paint, though. Like maybe sky blue and flat black checker pattern. Be noticed!

'81 Kawasaki KE175 enduro - 63 mph of smokey fun, now with collector plates!

A friend has this bike. It is red (OEM color). He loves it. It is very reliable as long as you do proper maintenance. It gets great MPG - 45+.

The color? What was the PO thinking? The bike will retain more value by repainting it the original red color. It is a very nice looking bike except for the GTH green.

Yeah Ive heard of these things doing 200 k before any major work, dont know where I can get the correct decal set do you ? All the ones Ive seen are for the Pan Euro. Yours is the first one Ive seen with the Pan decals on the panier bags, are they original, mine has small Honda ones burried under that green, just above the reflector.[IMG][/IMG]

They ARE a nice trouble free bike that'll get ya' OVER 300K if maintained properly. Have mine for some 9+yrs. now. Gotta love the 50+mpg@ 80mph average!. Rarely look at oil level between 6-8k changes.

BTW, I'll see if I can find the link, but a recent survey has put the ole' ST1100 as number one out of a top ten survey of touring bikes...........Nope, not even the Beemer, Wing NOR the ST1300 topped the ST1100 in the survey.

The STowners.com site IS the go to place for info. The folks there are every bit as knowledgable on the STeeds as us long time owners of the XS11 are here!

Thanks...those are not Pan-European badges...they were made here in the USA and say Pan-American...They were an aftermarket item so i could put them anwhere i wanted to..Thought they'd look good on the Panniers...

Then again since it isnt going anywhere i have been riding it around and it only makes me want to keep it more. My 79XS1100 is nice but it doesnt have the depth of the powerband that the ST has and it feels crude by comparison as well.

Just saw one on ebay that was bid as high as $2550. The owner pulled it early stating that it was no longer available. His was a 1998 with 49K on the clock. Is that a good price? Ben, what were you asking for yours and how many miles are on yours?

He pulled it, so who knows what the reserve was, whether it had one or just in his head. Definitely no $2200 was gonna 'git it', and don't blame him. That's barely broke in mileage......and marginal for even a valve clearance check.
I saw what the asking was on Ben's STeed, don't remember other than it was good price, knowing what these bikes are about and their long-long durability. Hate to admit, but their even more durable engine-wise than our trusty ole' XS11's.
Helps to they DO have a rev.limiter that kicks in just a hair above the 8K redline, and the fact that less right ham-fisted owners ride them.
