    Joe,

No they dont fit. Not enough room to fit TCI and stuff under. I bought a nice one years ago and discovered I have a really nice shelf seat.

Hinged, which I felt they shoulda done with the 11.

Agreed ... hinged would be much better ...

          Hi Ian,
yeah, that or clip-on like the 1980 & newer XS650s.
I hate having to carry a ratchet & 14mm deep socket in my saddlebag to get the effin' seat off because the toolkit sits behind a sidecover that will only come off when the seat is off.

What's up with that? The inexpensive bike has a far better seat than the XS1100! Looking at it, the XS1100 Special could have had the same latch as the XS650. Too bad it just didn't happen.

              xs 1100 seat

              Thanks for the info guys.
The reason I asked in the first place was that a seat listed as a 750 seat was on craigs list in Grand Island Ne.for $40 It is actually a 1100 standard seat.
I called on it and the woman that answered the phone would not ship it.
So if anyone lives near Sioux City Iowa I would pay you to ship it for me.
As of today it is still listed.

                Hi Marty,
my theory is that Yamaha's various design departments had access to the same pile of parts but were forbidden to talk to each other.

I'm sure you're right, Fred. That XS1100 seat latch sure is a disappointment. Especially considering what a nice one they put on the XS650, a bike with less than half the retail price!
