  • 11 carbs on an 850?

Friend of mine has a 1981 xs850 and wants to upgrade from the crappy Hitachi carbs, he offered to (almost) cover the cost of me getting a set of the Kawasaki KeiHin carbs (which I'm about fed up with the stock 11 carbs anyway) I was just wondering if anybody has seen if 3/4ths of the 11 carb rack fit on the 750/850 bikes, and would this be feasible? (Probably a little bit of jet swapping)
He wanted to hunt down a set of the 79-and earlier xs750 mikunis, but can't find any, and even considered the triumph speed triple 900 carbs, but the cost (roughly double the cost of what I offered him my 11 carbs for) is causing him to hesitate on that idea. Thoughts?

I need to join another forum like I need another hole in my head. I'll tell my buddy to get off his arse and research it himself.

Dave, the problem will be the spacing between the carbs. 36mm/42mm/36mm (1+2, 2+3, 3+4) is the spacing for the XS11 carbs. They are 42mm diameter to slip into the carb boots. Probably best off finding the correct XS750 Mikunis, JMHO

            Carbs

I have a set of carbs off a triple here too. Not sure if they were 750 or 850's. I haven't seen them in a few years but I can send them down if you need spare bodies and rails and stuff to put a good set together.

Thanks for the offers guys, I'll let him know that there's a few sets out there still in existence.
