  • Seca 400

I got my 83 Seca 400 running. Last items were a head light and front brake.
And I mounted the two saddle bags off my Suzuki.
Have made two trips around my Island. Handle bars were bent, I straightened them but they need replacing. Swing arm bushings also need replacing.
The original engine was worn out so I swapped it. New engine is still a DOHC but a 5 speed. Original was 6.
Bike rides and handles quite well.
Have done 7000 revs in 4th and 6000 in 5th, which is around 110 KPH.
Rough calculations suggest I will need to hit 9000 revs to get 100 MPH.
Not sure yet if it will rev that high. May need taller gearing. Will find out soon when I get it on the main highway. But so far, for under $1000.00 I will have a good riding, and I hope reliable scooter. And I have the original engine to play with if I get the time or the urge.

I know they're not the same design, but I have a '77 Honda CB400F Super Sport, and that little thing will do some high revs! I thought that was the fastest bike on the road when I was young, lol

      Honda 400

The Honda Hawk 400 was a nice bike. Made sense to me. The Yamaha Seca and the Suzuki 400 seem to be hot rod versions.
My Seca is red lined at 10,000. So far I have managed 8750 in 4th and 8100 in 5th which is top gear.
90mph at 8100. Has a miss fire at WOT. I think it can do a bit more if tuned properly. First time on the highway today.

Ahh, the Hawk was the later model in the 80's. The bike I refer to is a classic in it's own right: Super Sport

            Just noticed my error.
So many bikes and the years roll by.

My Seca now has a new set of bars installed.
