We must have had twin" XX's" Stan.......
Back to the XS650, my guess it has something to do with the carb for that cylinder either a sticking float, plugged inlet screen......on the electrical side of things, perhaps a shorting plug wire or bad plug cap......also look for short to ground on the ballast resistor.
Ignition problems tend to be more catastropic (that spelt rite?)...best of luck finding the problem, you'll be the better mechanic because of it.
