I think the other CB1100 with the swept 4 into 1 exhaust is a retro style throw back to the CB400/4
Though looking at these pics it seems there are different versions of that CB1100, Hondas page that Madmax-im linked shows a less swept exhaust, I wonder if the pics I've found are of pre-production mock-up concept bikes and they're now selling watered down versions.
.
Actually its a throwback to the 1st CB...the CB750 that came here in 1969...the one that started the UJM craze...

Only thing missin' is the four upswept exhaust like the CB750 had, which would of looked better anyways IMO.

Cant imagine how much that old system weighed but the new bike reflects an eclectic mix of old and new...I like the new exhaust and it goes well with this bike...as with the XJR1300 that we cant get does it not also have a 4-1 ? Its certainly my hope that yamaha gets inspired to bring the XJR1300 stateside....
From the new CB1100 line up this is the one for me
I have to say I like the CB1100 much better. The lines are much nicer to me. But I have never really been a fan of the rear wheel floating a yard or so below the bike look of the Cafe styles.

Has 4 into 2

It depends on which year, some of them had 4 into 2 into 1.

Getting the xjr here isn't the problem, it is getting registration for a vehicle not certified and designed to be in the US market.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
We don't have that here, though they're trying to bring it in through the European laws
It may also be why Yamaha don't import the XJR13 into the US, it may not be able to meet US emission laws, some of the bikes we had from the Jap 4 have been dropped in Europe for the same reason.

I was basing my facts on the exhaust on this pic but now i'm not sure its a 4 into 1 at any rate it matters not as this is exactly how I'd like one...black and chrome....looks downright bitchin' and even better lookin than the Honda IMHO...
That Honda is lovely. It's great to see that motorbikes are beginning to look like motorbikes again....
If Yamaha introduce the XJR1300 in competition to the Honda, buy the XJR, is my biased advice.....
XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. New project now on the go. 1980 European model.
I agree Marty, I like the real chrome fender look of the Honda, as opposed to the wing look on the XJR. I still like the look of the XJR, but prefer the Honda look.

hmmm I've never considered the differences with the rear setups...since the CBR1100 is already here... its the best shot we have. I can attest to Honda's reliability...although they arent without some faults...nothing is ever perfect
