Yes indeed. I think I need one of these in the near future. The Sport bike scene is getting a little old and my back isn't getting any younger. these things are a mix of both worlds. Lil sporty and a lil tourey!

So I posted My R1 on craigslist to fish for one of these FJR's or a FZ1. something more upright and still sporty. Got 2 guys texting me 10 minutes after I posted the ad asking me what I would take cash wise for it. Apparently they think I'm out of my mind.

Ya I almost Bought a honda VFR before I got my R1... upright seating was nice on the VFR but the suspension sucked out loud! I was looking for a R6 when I got my R1. The newer R6 ergo's are good. has real handle bars instead of clip-on's like the R1. I couldn't pass up the R1 thou. its Shiny and too fast for its own good!

The Feejers are nice scoots, a little buzzy but make fairly decent LD riders. I as Ben have the ST1100, which IMHO is the better of the two for LD touring. The FJR IS way quicker at 145h.p. but the 100h.p. of the ST IS plenty, specially with its bottom-end grunt, which BTW the Feejer lacks until it comes up in rpm above 5K. Then the bike can be scary quick if not ready for it. It's a compromise either way between the two scoots. The ST is more comfortable than the Feejer for LD riding. The Feejer leans more towards the sport riding crowd. With a Russel Day-Long seat on the Feejer, the comfort is there but throws off the rest of riding position unless risers and a few other farkles are done to it. FWIW, the Honda ST1100 was classified as 'doin it all well', even though compromises were made in some areas. The ST1300 leans more to the sport class with rider being thrown with more forward weight on the bars. The Sport-touring class is about compromise, and what area of compromise one is willing to give up. IMO, the ST's, Feejers and Conny14's are all great durable LD machines. One's preference of one over another for compromise seems to be the deciding factor. I have to also mention the Beemer's sport tourer to as another option in the same class or Diver Ray will be haunting me at a later date unknown to me..........

Ya I have a problem with shiny objects.... I have to have every shiny object that catches my eye. I would make a horrible fish

Got it all wiped down and then took it out around the back roads here. Still fiddling with the suspension, I think I got it as close as its gonna get. Need hotter weathers so I can dig in the corners and see how she reacts.

Run's a ton better with new plugs and my air box mod with new K&N. As if a 160 hp bike needed anymore power

You forgot to say...YMMV as most of what you said is true...but subjective to you...2 things going against the ST IMHO are its hefty weight and its high center of gravity which can be a handfull in the parking lots.
The Feejer has a lower c.O.G. but I'm not sure anout the weight....Its been said many times that the ST should go on a diet and lose at least 100 lbs.
