Hey Shawn!
My son has a CX 500. He picked it up about three years ago, also $200. Had 9700 miles on the clock.
These are nice bikes. Great starter bike. However, they have their little quirks, just like the XS/XJ's.
One thing they are notorious for is stator problems. Don't run it on a low charged or dead battery. In order to change the stator you have to remove the engine and split the case. NASTY!
But they are alot of fun to ride. There were two models, the "Custom" and the "Deluxe". Later, Honda named them the "Silver Wing".
My son has a Clymers manual that he got with his purchase.
Hope this helps.Bob Udy

Couple notes I picked up along the way...
Early CX 500 had a problem with water pump leaking. This was fixed on later models and retrofitted to most early bikes. Still you might ask if the water pump has ever been replaced. If not sure, you may want to consider doing this.
I seriously considered buying a CX 500 several years back, but decided to keep it simple by running air-cooled bikes. By most accounts the CX is a nice little ride.Jerry Fields

Just a little added information to Jerry's comments:
To replace the water pump impeller you must perform the same operations as to replace the stator. The water pump is just above the stator. Owners of these bikes recommend changing the impeller at the same time if you are installing a new stator.Bob Udy

If you have to go with an older Honda, I’d recommend the 750F, 900F or 1100F. These were about the best of the line up in the early to mid 1980s.
