  • Can they do two tone powder coating?

I'm asking because I want to get my wheels powder coated but I'm thinking of the "spokes" in one color and the rims in a different one. Anyone know??

    Yes, but it's a PITA....

There's slightly different methods depending on the final product, but basically, you coat each color separately. You have to mask between colors, but one major difference is you have to remove the masking after coating and before curing without disturbing the uncured powder or getting any powder onto the already coated part. If you don't, the masking or color will melt into the cured color.
Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Probably easier to do the spokes first them tape them off to powder the wheel.
      Sounds like fun.

Seems to me it might be easier to powdercoat the whole thing in one colour, them mask and paint what you want in the second colour with a conventional urethane paint.

        JAT...

The trouble with trying to paint over the powder is getting a good bond and even if you do, the paint will chip rather easily as in any sort of impact the powdercoat will 'flex' more than the paint will. If you were going to do this, you should use the paint additive that they use for rubber bumpers. Or better yet, don't coat the area you want to paint.

I've done the powder/paint thing and wasn't all that happy with the results. I've also done two color powdercoat on some pieces, and it really is a PITA...

OK, well that's thin info I was looking for, basically it's not worth the trouble. That's fine. Thank you.
