It could be a nice little rig .It's a shame to see it out in the snow.

You should be able to get it cheap considering it probably has rust in wheel bearings as well as other corrosion from letting water get in.It looks like it's been sitting awhile, so you may want to see if the engine will spin.
It looks like a good candidate for resurrection though.
I'd offer $100 bucks and go from there.

        Tx 650

        I have a 79SF.
The 650's are a blast for an around town bike.
Parts for these seem to be easier to come by.
They also seem to fetch more on the resale end.
If its out there in the snow he probably doesn't appreciate it.
        Which is good for you.
        I think thats a 73 or 74
        Good luck

I'm guessing its not a daily rider wish I still had my 650 it was fun. that ones the same color as my 73. I'd stop and ask those older 650's go for some ca$h if they are nice could be a good investment.

            For Sure...

            Hi Brad, That's XSactly how I scored this '77 last summer on my route to work;

I saw its front wheel sticking out from under a tarp amongst a pile of Hillbilly Heaven stopped in and asked the guy, "What's the best You could do on this?", $100 + $60 for title and fees and it now resides in my Man Cave awaiting restoration I led on that I just wanted something to tinker with and the guy didn't think I could still get parts for it Go for it!

            1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
            1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
            1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
            1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

                650

You are sure in a buyers market. Most people do not think about bikes or riding until spring. The 650 is fun for curvy roads, but wide open spaces, high speed cruising long distance is better suited to an XS11.

Jetmech Marty knows about 650s. He & his Daughter are resurecting one. Depending on the finished product you are looking to arrive at, It may be cheaper to buy one in the condition you hope to achieve. Parts are available, as that bike was made for many years.

Yamaha XS650 Society is a good resource for info and a great bunch of guys to ride with.

                Good luck & have fun
