So this woman i work with bought a bike(ZX9) from a buyer off of E-Bay.He said it was too fast and wife just had a baby and she bid and won it.She picked it up in Massachusetts and trailer it home. Was riding it and bike died 2 days later. She got anew battery and still would not start. So this other girl i work with asked me and said look for bad fuses.Well it turns out a wire from the taillight area was rubbing against the seat bracket and shorting it out causing the fuse to pop.The PO installed an aftermarket under tail and did a crappy wiring job.So she got it to work and I spent 1/2 hours splicing new wire into the taillight area. All fixed now. Also PO put 20 amp fuses in the horn because he told her that a higher fuse will make the horn louder?

Fuse
Putting a bigger fuse is asking for trouble. You cannot put a fuse that is in excess of the conductors ampacity.

Sure you can; it's done all the time (let me tell you about my PO-abused Jaguar...). But it will let all of the factory smoke out when something goes wrong, and we all know that when the factory smoke is used up the part is dead....

Wiring is often an issue with PO bikes. It should be checked closely when buying a used bike. As for the horn, the only way to make it louder is to buy a louder horn and wire it directly to the battery with a relay.
