To get this V65 to look less like a sportster wannabe and more like the sportbike it is?


I am thinking dragbars, lowering the front and rear and doing something to the seat/and rear section. But the tank would just look wierd I think on a more level bike.....IDK

Changing the seat and loosing the grab rail would definitely help. Drag bars with lower mirrors would make a change too.

I would just ride it as is. Put your time into paint and polish. But I've always thought the Magnas looked like they stood way too tall up front. Should be easy to wheelie.

If you lower the bike, you risk ruining your exhaust system. Trust me, you'll hit an unexpected bump and that is all she wrote. Or you'll have a lady on the back and do the same thing.

If you get rid of your grab bar, how are you going to get the bike on the center stand?

If you lower the front end you will change handling characteristics. You may improve top speed handling but reduce every day handling.

I would suggest rather than hacking up a Magna, why not paint and polish it, tune it up real nice, then sell it. Kelly Blue Book suggest a $2400 retail value for your Magna in good shape. Take that money and buy an 1100 Sabre instead - or even a late 80's sport bike - like a Honda Hurricane or something. A friend of mine got an '88 Hurricane (CBR-1000) for like $500 bucks. It will trounce most bikes I've ridden. Amazing power for a bike so old.

Stock Honda V4 bikes are very desirable in the right market. I think you'd be better off exchanging it for a bike that already looks more like what you want. Just my opinion.

Thanks ae7f You make alot of sense, plus these bikes have such unique characteristics, they are kind of hard to mod without big bucks.
I have already started all the other stuff you mentioned.clean, polish, did the oil mod, got new tires. Once I get it right I think I may see if one of the guys on the V4 site might trade me for a Saber.
