Uh, ya... reports of peg scraping was a reason I didn't buy a fudger. No shaft jack on the killerbee either and she's the land speed record holder at 176 for "sport tourers". But of course, that classification just keeps the insurance rates down. It's far more sport than touring. I know you Cody, I was just kidding about the blind love thing.

Sport tour? Are you kidding.
There is nothing tour about that thing. Are you talking about the K1200S? Looks like a Super Sport to me.
I always thought the K1200GT was the "sport touring" machine from the Germans. but what do I know. I'm older than dirt!

Thats a bit of an assumption because the zx14 and busa are more appropriate comparisons, and could easily stomp that record. So I figure the beemer must not be considered to be a supersport.... Like I said, too, the K1200s insurance rates are consistent with an FJR. So, I'll gladly take the bragging rights
You've got me tempted to throw on a backpack and head out for oklahoma just to prove the Killer Bee can do 12 days, the ? is, can I1980sg-Stocker-- Sold

12 days! The only way it would take 12 days to ride to OK and back is on a VESPA!
You've been threatening to ride out here for 2 years. I'll believe it when you pull in my garage!
...throwing down the gauntlet of biker bravado...
I think I read some top speed shootout where the Bimmer lost...but at 176 WHO CARES!!!
What they did do in this article that was very cool was set a new "two up" top end record...I think some chick at one of the cycle mags crawel up on the pillion...tucked ...and they hit 175!

i can't seem to open the maxim for sale thread,so...
how much do you expect to get for your one off maxim, i hope the new owner will cherish what you have acomplished with it,
i don't know your situation cody, but i recall you having nightsweats selling something else, if it's the room you need then maybe, but 10 or 20 thousand here or there, is not much. you can make that back but not the maxim,
i feel it is one of the best executed machine within this organization, and i'm not blowing smoke up yours.
go for the connie , get a loan or something, but keep the maxim, you'll need something to tinker with.
okay don't get pissed at my opinion it is just that my opinion, again my apologies, you are your own man and obviously have made very good desicions in your lifetime, i have met you, i can tell.

I just talked to a fella in Chicago that has a Concours 14.
He said he did a mod to the bike that is very popular among the ZX14 crowd. They replace the stock muffler with a slip on, remove the sceondary plates in the throttle bodies and re-map the fuel.
After this little $800 tweek his new Concours went from 135 hp stock to 150 and 99 ft-lbs at the rear wheel. That's Busa territory boys...and from a 700 lb bagger!
This thing is looking better by the minute.

If any of you can explain how to post photos here, I'd like to show a predecessor to the Kawasaki and FJR.
My other bike.

Still trying to figure out how to post pics of a bike that's got way more style than a KAW or FJR - a tall in the saddle sport touring that's a tractor - you can take off from any gear.Last edited by LCS249; 10-27-2007, 02:41 AM.1982 XJ1100J Maxim

You'll have to use an online photo host. Try an account at photobucket.com. The link to that. Looks like you're trying to link your photos to your hardrive...won't work.
If you're referring to a Trophy it was rated at 108 hp and 77 ft-lbs peakt torque. Take off in 5th from a stop? It must be geared UBER low. My ZRX makes 85 ft-lbs of torque. I can launch it in 1, 2 or 3 with no problem. But fifth? I dunno know...I never tried. Why would I?
The Concours is making more torque at 3500 rpm than the Trophy is at it's peak.
But the Trophy is a slick bike!Last edited by MAXIMAN; 10-27-2007, 08:31 AM.

Yep, that's my bike, except mine is British Racing Green. ... not that Taurus color ... he-he
I'll post to tinypics or some such and then put a link in.
It's way more power than I need in any gear. It goes. And it's very intuitive for cornering and changing lanes.
How do you get pics in?
