Was just talkin with my mate Yesterday who said his mate said there were mountains of 2 strokes just junked in USA

Anyway don't know a thing about this ??

Interested to know ,,,if you had a 2 Stroke were you just banned from using it ??or was it just no more allowed to be newly registered ??

Also was it coz of emmissions ?? or noise ?? or both ??

If it was emmissions i just can't grasp this when you have these big V8's etc out there ?? or is it emmissions related to engine size etc ??

just interested to know more about this

    Just wondering

No, they just brought in emmission control regulations and the 2 strokes had a hard time meeting them.

It became more cost effective for the manufacturers to scrap 2 strokes for all but a few off-road uses, and go with all 4 strokes.

I think the emmission rules were based on displacement.

We can still drive them, if we have them. There is no rule against driving 2 strokes allready in existence, but they haven't made any for the street since the mid 70's.

In WWII the Czechs made a V-8, 2 stroke, air cooled, rear engine car! All german officers were forbidden to ride in them.

How many 2 strokes manufactured by American companies?

Remeber riding the Suziki 500 Titan, good go, hard to slow.

I don't know of any made by American companies. Bombardier made them in Canada for a while. All the Japanese companies made 2 strokes.

I do remember that CB1100F now that you mention it. It was an extension of the Super Sport line wasn't it?

I was never into the F line, I liked the touring side better than the sport. I always liked the looks of the CB900C when it was decked.

Yammy v-twins not powerful? Try a Roadliner. You'd be surprised at a few things about them. Styling's a little goofy for my taste although a lot of people seem to like it. And the price, well that's a whole other issue.

Those are nice! I kinda like this one...radical styling. The floating tail and free back wheel are really striking! Is that a 6-cylinder?

This one is a real beauty though....classic style!! Gotta love it.

Yes it is. Here's the Honda site for them: http://www.honda.co.jp/motorshow/motor/index.html
It lists it as 1832cc, the same as the Gold Wing. I like all three concepts. I'd have a hard time trying to decide between them.
