chop, couldn't help myself....scored that V Star 1100 shaft for $11.68 shipped...the latest purchase on ebay. hope to receive the V Star 650 swing arm by mid-week (next week) and I'll provide some measurements.
You've saved me a load of research.............or more likely, a load of trial and error
Thank you.

1982 5K7 Sport, restored to original from a wreck
1978 2H9 (E), my original XS11, mostly original
1980 2H9 monoshocked (avatar pic)http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...psf30aa1c8.jpg
1982 XJ1100, waiting resto to original
Now if all the yokes could be measured to see if there is a length diff. we may be able to get a certain yoke and certain driveshaft for a "no spacer" straight swap....and not to mention, figuring out which combos are good for longer swingarms.....GREAT JOB!

chop, do you recall the # of yoke splines on the XS750 shaft?
recall you stating that it was fewer than 21.....just thinking that a 17-spline 4H7-46180-00-00 yoke and the XS750 shaft may provide your no-spacer solution?
the 4H7 yoke appears to have only been used on the 80-83 XJ650 and the 81-83 XJ750.
suppose the ebay sellers leave this as part of the transmission?
hope to feeling up to testing the other end soon.....that would be swapping the XS11's 2H7 Pinion Coupler into a drive (the XJ750) that uses a 4H7 coupler.
kind of decided that the Royal Star s/a mod will be placed on temporary hold so that the bike could be used for mock up work.
Thought I read on another forum that the XJ 650 n 750 used a smaller axle bolt, were all of these finals checked for the axle bolt size?
Currently in process of swapping in an XS750 final into my XS11 that has some slop in it...
Found your chart, cleaned it up, sorted it, and added some color for quick reference... Unsure if I copy and paste it if it will keep formatting but will try.
