Hey Chop,
you ever investigate using a triumph standard dual sided swing arm? I ask because there are a few on the bay and they look pretty wide at the pivot?

I did look at one off the model that looks exactly like the GPZ one in the previous pics...It may even be a swingarm that triumph used from whichever company that made it...JAT

well I got some questions out on the bay about dimensions, and now just waiting for replies. I'll let ya know when I hear somethin.
I am lookin around cause there are only two GPZ swingarms on the bay that I can find and it is gonna be about 100.00 total. Triumphs are cheaper.

Well, put about 30 miles on the chop yesterday. Rides nice and smooth. Definetly gonna need a smaller rear sprocket. Setup for the strip right now. Dont know if it s normal, but it is noisy, front sprocket anyway. I am also gonna have to get a different rear master cylinder cause the stock one wont fit beside my swingarm
Any way should beable to find a cheap one on the bay. Speking of the bay I got a triumph swinarm for 30.00 bucks out the door. won the bid with .99 cent. Seller told me it was 10 3/4 between pivots. thats pretty close. Ill post some pics up I took yesterday in a minute. Hey chop, looks like we got a fellow chophead around here. I got a feeling there is gonna be more of use. Later

Also gotta put some rear fender strutts on, didn't want too, but it bounces and wobbles pretty bad the way it is.

very nice job. flat black will be my frame color as well....I did the R1 shock mod to my daily driver and it is much more firm than the stock double shocks....I aint about breaking my spine on potholes....chop

rake angle?

audi, what did you change the front rake angle to and is there any noticable difference in the steering? probably difficult to pin differences on rake alone since you also have an extended s/a and fat rear tire. guessing that there was no changes made to the trail so it increased with the rake change?

Didnt do anything to the stock rake purposely. However I did extend the down tubes by about two inches or so which did increase the rake a little. I cant tell you degrees or anything cause I have never measured it. But to be perfectly honest I noticed no difference in handling. Might be a liitle slower in the turns but I am so low I cant go fast enough through the turns to notice. But at high speeds its like riding a train. Straight and true.

If you take a close look at the pic you can see the gap between the engine and tank, if you compare that to a stock pic, you can get an idea of how much I extended the down tubes.

Have a question for Pggg or chop if you got yours up and runnin. I am getting alot of noise coming from my front sprocket area. I was wondering what symptoms you had Pggg to make you look at the middle gear shaft the first time you put it together and got the uneven wear on the shaft? It almost sounds like a bad bearing or something. not grinding but alot of whurrring. Hard to explain. It is louder when excelerating or just maintaining speed, not so bad when coasting or backing off the throttle. Please help

your outboard axis is off and you will soon not have any driveshaft teeth left if you don't get it aligned correctly....

Is there a special way to tell which way it may need to go. IE teeth wear or doyou just have to look and use best judgement

Auds, if you know your measurements are spot-on, don't worry mine's always made a whirring sound from day one, still hauling ass smooth and strong thousands of miles later, the whirring must be a characteristic of those big sealed bearings and the 'open' drive unit, the original one piece sealed drive unit with oil-fed bearings, running in hot oil, the sealed grease bearings are always gonna be noisier, and the sprocket & chain are naturally noisier than the silkysmoothquiet XS shaftdrive.

PS some sealed bearings, depending on make, have bugger all grease inside, I carefully peeled back the plastic seals and packed heaps more grease in, my bearings are NSK and they certainly didn't go overboard with the grease in there, read skimpy amount(maybe it's special grease or something, who the hell knows, being cynical I reckon it's a scam by the bearing manufacturers to make people buy more bearings!!

Also if the chain's off-line, one side of the front sprocket gets shiny
