Thanks you should see it in person.
I think it is absolutely awesome . It rides so much smoother than before. I think the Busa rear shock is a good fit. It will look even better when I get the front rim switched out, get a rear fender and brake. That is about all I HAVE left to do . I still need to tweak on the carbs some. Good ole low rpm issues.
How is your bike coming along?

Good one Audi, wow that's one looong swingarm, no worries with unexpected wheelies Just curious, what make/model bike is the back wheel actually off, and what diameter disc does it take? Any ideas on what caliper to go with?

The wheel is for harleys 1984-99. it is 16x5.5 inches. No idea right now what caliper I am gonna use or what disc. I was wanting to try and reuse the rear caliper, but can not find a disc with five holes the right diameter(match existing disk) So right now I dont know. Any ideas would be great on that though

                      Well Pggg,
I just bought a rotor off ebay for the rear. it is 11.5 inch and specs on the xs says 11.8. So not much difference. I want my caliper to be under the swingarm, the way yours is. Problem with using the xs caliper mount or any other Japanese bike is my rear axle is 3/4" which is a little smaller than the XS and hard to match to foreign caliper mounts, and the harley mounts all go on top of the swing arm.
Do you think it would be a problem if there is a little play between the axle and the hole it goes through on the caliper mount.? In order to use the XS caliper I would have to use the mount as well.
Maybe I could get some of that thin shim metal and wrap it around the axle to get a snug fit with the caliper mount?
                      Any Ideas?

Yeah for the caliper and caliper bracket, the original harley setup would be the easiest way for sure, but if your harley axle is 18mm? and the XS bracket fits 20mm axles, a strip of 1mm thick galvanised tin or similar, first folded and shaped round the axle then inserted as a spacer will work fine with the XS bracket. I've done that same trick before with bearings etc..

Means if using the XS caliper and bracket, there'd be around 7.6mm of unused area on the harley disc. Wouldn't affect braking performance. Now, to use a common underslung japanese twin opposed piston caliper(the pistons float on them, not the caliper) you'd probably be looking at rigging your own bracket because MOST japanese underslung calipers brackets are sized for 220 - 250mm discs.

Doesn't mean there's not underslung brackets that'll fit a 290mm or over disc, as there's sure to be cruiser type japanese bikes that run a large rear disc. A matter of finding what models do. I know 50gary rigged his own bracket from a chunk of alloy to fit a bandit underslung caliper to his XS 298mm disc.

My setup is a bit of an oddball one, with a GPX750 240mm disc on a ZX6R wheel with a ZXR750 caliper&bracket Good luck!

Hey Chop, how are you gonna go about making that fiberglass fender(s)? I am trying to figure out the best way to do it without a mold.

I am going to spray foam it and carve it to blend everything in then use clay to get it perfectly smooth and hard to lay the first layer of glass....this will be a process...but results are XSLNT...
