    Just thought I'd show you guys some pics of my 1980 XS 400. It's still a work in prgress but let me know what you think. All work was done by myself.

      .. Hell Yeah!. i love it!.. i really like the twin leading shoe drum front brakes and the sportster muffs.. cant wait to see it finished either.

        Thanks! Yeah the drum brakes are a little rough but they work well. And the Sporster muffs actually were a really easy fit and sound good when you punch out the freeze plug in the center.

          THATS AWESOME!!!!!
          I have a 79 xs400 and i wanted to do something similar to it. I was just wondering about how much this project cost??

            Well, it depends. If you don't know anybody that can fabricate or know how to fabricate yourself, then it could be costly to get the work done. A friend and I did the frame work on the bike and I did the rest. It's still a work in progress but so far the tally has only reached about $200 in all. The Sportster tank was the most expensive peice at $60 used. The Sportster mufflers I picked up for $30/pair. I painted the bike myself with rattle cans so not much money there. You should be able to do it relatively cheap. I'd like to see some pics of your 79 if you have some.

                i was just wondering if you still had the original mufflers and if you do are you willing to sell them??

                  Unfortunately, I don't have the originals. They were in pretty bad shape as it was. Some dings and holes etc. If you want you can e-mail me the pictures of your bike. E-mail me here.
