Rain, rain, go away!

Yesterday was the first in a long time with no rain. I actually was able to ride around on dry pavement for a change. The skies were threatening though so I carried the rainsuit in the saddlebag. We've had the rainiest March on record here in Nor Cal and April has brought no relief. Mountaintops around here still have snow on them and though it's spring we've got the usual California winter weather.

Riders have gone a bit buggy, even those who don't usually ride in the rain were out in force last weekend. Saw a group of about 30 Harleys with rainsuited riders (about half two-up) over in Santa Rosa. Wonder what the occasion was. Even the local Star chapter who usually cancel rides because of rain have been riding anyway the last couple of weekends.

take that and add in nor cal coast weather up here in Eureka. Even the locals are lose'n' it.

Weather here in ND cant make up its mind, 4 days of 60-70 degree temps, then 2-3 days of 40s, maybe low 50's (52 is the avg for right now)
Ive been riding the bike steady for 2 weeks now, on and off for 4-5 weeks.
Going to be starting our rain period here in the next week or 2, not looking forward to that though we really need the rain.

We had a pretty nice week with highs in the 60's to 70's, but rain every few days. As it is, I just watched a tornado go by while on a call in a smaller town called Gallitin. Had never seen one up close and personal like that. It's an incredible sight. Peices of roof and other debris flying through the air around it. Simply amazing. It was within a 1/4 mile of me. Took 15 minutes for it to go by, creating a swath of destruction.

Many unhappy people around here today.

Rain again today, guess I won't bother to clean the bike for awhile till it's over with. It'll just get splattered again.

Heck no, most earthquakes don't do much, even the fairly big ones. The monster ones only happen maybe once or twice a century. I was riding home from work over the Bay Bridge when the '89 Loma Prieta one struck. Brought a section of the upper deck down in front of me like a giant garage door. I and several other riders turned around and lane split a few miles back to San Francisco. All the cagers had to walk off the bridge.

I grew up in L.A. which is nicknamed Shaky City. Quakes are really common there. If you're driving you mostly don't even notice them. It's when you're sitting quietly reading the paper or watching a movie that you feel them.

Rain again today. No sign yet of let-up say the weathermen. Excuse me, "weatherpersons". Can't be too careful here in politically correct California, actually I suppose the rest of the country has been infected by now too.
