Rainy weather is an excuse not to clean your bike! "Hard work pays off in the future, laziness pays off now!" Don't know who coined that one but it does have some truth to it.

Speaking of rain, any body have any suggestions for a good tire in the rain. PO has Chen Shin on the back and I have to walk on egg shells braking in the wet stuff. I triple my distance when it's wet cause those tires think wet equals ice.

I need to replace the skins sometime in the next two or three months and am starting to give it some thought. I don't ride extremely hard and don't do a lot of twisties (most of my riding is Ohio and Indiana, not many twists in farmland!). Any recomendations? I'd like something that will last more than 3000 miles too. ( I know, I'm looking for the Swiss Army Knife of tires...)

Depends on which model Cheng Shin you have, CS Barracudas work great in the rain. Also depends on how worn the tires are. I was running a Dunlop 491 Elite II in back which was fine until it got squared off and then it would let go in corners even on dry pavement! I think most modern tires work pretty well in the wet except when it first starts raining and all that oil and rubber dust floats up. After an hour of rain the pavement's much cleaner and grippier. If your rear tire's letting go under braking you're using too much rear brake.

Tires preferences are a highly personal choice. I'm sure there will be a bunch of posts advocating strongly for this or that tire.
