I think we need a higher authority here. Well maby a posted sticky of those members we should no buy from. If you were going to pass through, You might stop by his house and pay a visit. I personally keep a record of those I deal buisness with including name, phone number, and address. Give it a little more time and if the person still doesn't contact you, maby if somone could suspend his account. People who do that are taking advantage of the good people on this site. Personally, I don't like being stiffed, even indirectly.

.. yeah, i'm still holdin faith in my fellow man, there is a chance he could be having problems, would have been nice if he would respond to PMs. maybe his computer caught a virus while he was surfing porn, it crashed and he needs the money to fix it. you never know.

i'm not real bummed about it, i'm just venting

.. yeah, i'm still holdin faith in my fellow man,
Bah! I have no faith in my fellow man. I have an understanding of my fellow man, by understanding man's baser impulses such as greed, and the desire to take from someone that he really doesn't know, nor care, much about. Selfishness, and an 'all for me" attitude seem the rule of the day in today's society. Gone, is the gentleman's creed... where his word was his honor, where a good name and a good standing was something to strive for.
Oh, it's easy to rip off the gullible. Thankfully, it can only be done once, but unless the names of the guilty are shared, it can also be "done once" to other members till everyone has "once" felt the sting.
"Oh... but maybe he got sick, or lost his job, or, or, or..." Well, then maybe he should mail the package back to you. Just because this is the internet, doesn't mean that certain codes of behavior can be ignored.
No one here 'actually' knows one another. We rely on reputation alone, but selling parts over a distance should be no different than selling to one's neighbor. Should my neighbor prove unreliable in his payments, he should expect me to slander his questionable name, and not be overly offended when I also poison his well.
A contract between two men was entered into. It is expected that both uphold their part of the bargain. To do less, requires forethought... planning... and an intent to purposefully steal another's possessions. I don't know about anyone else here... but I get highly riled when people scheme against me.
"I don't want to post his name... he might have had unforseen circumstances, etc. And by letting other's know that I was ripped off, I'll appear weak and gullible."
Let me tell you something, Mr. Weak and Gullible... If at a later date I send something to this weasle and get ripped off, I will post his name.(and naked pictures of his wife) Should you then pipe up and stated that you were taken in by this guy, too, I will give you the same treatment, for by your inaction, you allowed this to happen.
"Don't want to post his name... or address..."
Post it, I say. If he's local, not only will I get you your part back..., I'll end up with another "spare parts" bike in my back yard!

          "Hhmmm...."

          (On rereading...)
Now, this isn't to say that I would steal another man's possessions. Ummm... what I meant to write is that he would "Gift" me his machine to atone for his sins. Yeah, that's it... "gift" me.

                Getting burned and lessons learned

I bought an FJ on Ebay a couple of years ago... nice looking bike (shiny with color changing paint... ooooohhhh... ahhhhhh)... guy said it ran well... won the bid... paid the guy using my credit card through Paypal. Flew up to get it (it was in Wisconsin) was going to ride it home (Texas).. rode it around the block.. it died... flew home... back the next week with assurances the problem was fixed. Around the block, it died... we agreed that the money would be refunded. Flew home... week one... no refund... e-mail said it would be next week... week two... no refund.
Two months later I ended up taking it to the credit card company... got most of the money back... and then they took it away again because the guy said I never returned the bike. (Never returned the bike? It BARELY made it out of his driveway!!) Showed the credit card company all correspondence... got most of my money back again)

Lessons learned... make sure it runs FIRST
Lesson two... have faith in your fellow man... but don't put too much trust in him
Lesson three... if you buy a bike a great distance from you... have a back up plan
Lesson four... if I'm ever in Milwaukee... I'm looking for my credit card company's FJ1100 with color changing paint.

(the "wheelbarrow o' poop" in my backyard is getting full and my dogs keep contributing)
Am too tired to roll it into the woods to dump it. Much easier to package it in a box, mark it "motorcycle parts" and ship it somewhere.
GNEPIG.... it takes so little to make me happy... help me out, will ya?

(Oh yeah... like I'm the only person who does this!)
I suppose I'm alsothe only person who stuffs junk mail return envelopes with gay porn and sends them back, too, huh? Yeah, right!

I dunno? I have the UPS tracking info somewhere at the house I will see if I can find it and come back with an actual ship to address. Guys forum name is/was BikeWorx. No much info in his profile.

Ain't reall y no big this after this amount of time. I believe in the "Karma" train and it will come back to him somewhere down the line.

And no, I haven't lost all my faith in my fellow XS'ers. I still firmly believe 99.9% of everyone here is on the up and up.
