  • Guess I got burned

Member here looking for fairing mount. I had one. Sent it to him w/o $ up front to make sure it would fit his rig, thought I would be nice guy. After all, were all buddies, right?. He got mount, said it fit great. Gave him info for payment. Nothing, no answers to PM's. Not a great loss, just kinda bummed I got stiffed. I guess "my bad" for being a trusting guy, again.

Why not post him here so no one else will get stiffed by him.?

I thought of that but I didn't want to throw any rocks in case the guy got deployed, run over or some other personal disaster.

          Webbcraft,

South Haven is less than 2 hours from me, and I pass through it a couple times every riding season. I also drive by once in a while on business trips in Chicago.

Feel free to pass on the particulars and I can arrange to call or stop by on your behalf, if the guy has experienced a personal crisis he can explain it. If he is just being a jerk, than it will not hurt him to know that other forum members are in the area. I was getting ripped off by a painter in Bradenton FLA, and when a local guy phoned him my parts suddenly became available for delivery. I am happy to return the favor that someone gave me.

I also sent a fairing mount to South Haven, but I got paid for postage (Igave it for free with postage only) after a month. I feel lucky. Maybe he just forgot. Good luck.

Sorry, 2BHappy... but no weasle ever forgets that he owes somebody sumptin'. It's a way of life.
Yes, he may have gotten deployed, or is otherwise unexpectedly occupied, but it still is rather ungentlemanly behavior. A man's word is his honor.
I say send him a letter demanding that he explain himself. If that proves unsatistactory, then post his name here to warn off others. You won't get your money back... but at least we can have fun calling him names.
Better still... Post his address! I'd love to toss away a bunch of 39 cent stamps. (if you think I'm an a$$hole here at times, you aught to read some of my "Letters to the Editor")

I'ts funny how the good guy always thinks the worst when he's been stiffed ,,ie has there been an accident etc ,,etc puts you in a dilema of do i don't i ,should i ,shouldn't i

If you have been ripped then he will pick up these vibes and play on them all he can

Just be assertive ,not your fault if there has been a genuine problem (how were you to know)

once bitten twice shy ,,,how many people will genuinely need your help like that again anyway?? Don't feel bad for changeing ,,feel good for protecting your self from rats ,,this is where i like ebay as it gets it's worth and its a formal transaction

usually doing favors ends up with you putting time and effort in and nothing at all gained except stress !!
keep your good side for genuine known people with good track record ,,,if you actually want a part for your own bike ,,think of the lengths you have been to in the past ?? Not much ends up straight in your lap like that !! If you feel good about helping then cut your losses on it straight away and if you do get your $$$ then it's a bonus !!!
Don't put all yer eggs into one basket ,,,case

As I stated once in another post... The thought of ripping someone else off is so foreign to most people, they just can't believe that anyone could do something like that. Always bear in mind that just 'cause you think in a certain manner doesn't mean that everyone else shares the same mindset concerning ethics and morals.

                      .. Stiffed

about 2 months ago i sent one of our new members a set of baffles for his XS1100. i did the same thing that Webbcraft did, just shipped them to the guy and told him to pay shipping. he recieved them and was happy, he said the checks in the mail. its been over a month- no response, no check.
..i know it's only 11 bucks, and if the guy had said he couldnt afford it, i would have told him to not worry about it. instead no answers to PMs, no check- might as well of just kicked me in the balls and taken my milk money.
.. i guess thats what i get for trying to trust people..... sorry folks, no more Mr nice guy.

                        sorry about that

I had some stuff like that happen on the BAY, so I will only take paypal or a money order and ship when the check is truly in my mail....I have let quite a few things go just for shipping and gas to the P.O., just to clean out the garage....MDRNF

Usually if you continue to follow up with a "late payment" it will be paid. I often ship before payment and find most people follow through. Last guy that stiffed me actually died. No pun intended. Checks do get lost in mail as parts do also. Be patient. andreas

                            • Never appeal to a man's "better nature." He may not have one. Invoking his self-interest gives you more leverage.

                            • That old saw about "to understand all is to forgive all" is a lot of tripe. Some things, the more you understand them, the more you loathe them.
