    hi all
just a quick intro to say hi.
and now to the serious bit can any one help me find tank mounting rubbers for my xs1100 1982 us import.
removed the tank to find a petrol leak and found the mounting rubbers had gone.
    thanks all

    rubbed wrong way?

    Hi greg,

    welcome to XS land

think most oem rubber is getting hard to find.

should not be too hard to fashion new ones.
can get rubber from seal/gasket company.
punch/drill center hole, put bolt/washers through hole w/nut and put end of bolt into a drill motor. Shape rubber with a "rasp" (rough wood working file). sand paper will smooth it out.

would not look oem, but hard to see under tank

or just go to the local sports store and get a couple of hockey pucks, drill a hole in the middle and cut the outside down to size,
you can prob do it on a bandsaw, or lock your jigsaw in a vise upside down, cheepmans bandsaw

The Yamaha part number for the "fuel tank locating damper" is 1J7-24181-01-00 DAMPER, LOCATING 1. As it's a 1J7 part number, it is probably still available. If not the exact one, you should be able to find something close, and then modify as needed.

I have some of those, Do you mean the two round rubber pieces that have a centre hole in them that fit on the frame close to the triple tree that the tank hangs on? andreas Weiss P.O box 1218 Oroville,WA 98844

No wonder you were leaking, no rubbers!

Hey Andreas, do you ship internationally? Greg is in South Wales, I reckon that's on the British Isle?

Greg, Bike Bandit has them for a bit over $7.00 ea US:

            5: DAMPER,LOCATING 1 10994-001 $7.36

MikesXS which sells 650 parts has some for around $3.00 ea, but they are a bit different than the XS, but there is a distributor in the UK/EUROPE, might be more adaptable and cost effective than the BikeBandit ones?
