Say lads, check out the article on the Solvang Motorcycle Museum that I sent to Jerry to post, which he did (Thanks Jerry!) Look for it about a dozen post down. Thread starter Jerry, Thread "Solvang Motorcycle Museum."
DiverRay and I think it would be a great meeting place for a spring rally. It is somewhere southish of Santa Barbara, with lots of touristy shops and chocolate factories to keep our better halves entertained while we technophiles drool over the esoteric engineering features of Vincent's, Brough's, and Britten's.
Not to suggest that there aren't women riders who wouldn't dig seeing the museum. I truly love seeing women riders. Something about long braided hair and tight black leather, and bulges that are sort of the opposite of DiverRay's...
Anyway, read it for the enjoyment of the article, then consider it as a possible rallying point for a meet in the Spring. Think of it: unique vintage bikes, chocolate, wine, exploring new territory, new country roads, camaraderie... huh? Huh? I'm thinking late April, May?
Even a half dozen riders or couples would be great! The lady at "The Friction Zone," that I talked to said that if we ( I introduced myself as a "Vice President" of the XS11 Owners Association,) were to post a notice in their free "Events Calendar" we would probably get more interest than we wanted. Is this a bad thing?
On the personal front, I'm about to become very busy. I'm taking 6 hrs. of classes at our excellent local Cabrillo Community College, while trying to make a living as a wood floor contractor. I may try out for a part in the college production of "Inherit the Wind." This is the dramatization of the Scopes "Monkey Trail" regarding the teaching of evolution in the state of Tennessee back in the '20's. I've averaged about 1 play a year over the past 18 years,. but I've never played a judge. I thought it might be cool to be a Darwin (that's my honest sir name,) playing the part of the judge in "Inherit the Wind."
Anyway, the next installment of the "Tahoe Rally" might have to be abbreviated: I'm going to be very Busy.
