2cents
I had a Mac 4 into 2 and found it loud on long hauls plus the headers blued real soon like 20 miles even with heat proof or hi-heat paint treatment so now I found a original systemon ebay.....
My 79 special has a four into one stainless back to the supertrapp muffler it sounded real quiet when the bike last ran, if its ever up for sale will post on the list, the exhaust system that is.

I just put a black Kerker on my daily ride. It came with the winter project, and is a 4 to 1 system. It's quiet, but seems to help with the HP. I don't know if they are still available, but if you find one, they are worth the money.

HD shorties
You can always use HD shorties on your standard headers, you can a bit creative and attach them using clamps and some stainless steel sheet metal rolled into a set of tubes for each muffler......they dont sound half bad and the chrome is heavy on them....that if you have standard headers.....perhaps the y will work with Mac 4 into 2 headers.....

.. stake out ebay for a Kerker 4 INTO 1, fit and finish on those are very good. they sound good and make real good power.
. i have one of the jardine 4 into 1s with the chrome silencer, huge pain in the clams to assemble, it took me a couple of hours to install it and it still doesnt seem right, and its too loud!
.. maybe the jardine chrome 4 into 1 with the magaphone muffler would be better.. i havent had one of those yet

kerker
i am looking for a kerk for my ride. i love them with no baffle. but i went through two used sets already... One drawback you must drop the system to change oil filter but i don't mind so if anyone sees one let me know.. TIA1982 XJ 1100

I would use 4 in 4 akrapovic system.....
next one on my list would be 4 in 1 akrapovic system
after that... it doesnt even matter....
the problem is... akrapovic would cost more than the bike is worth
LPIf it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

I have a new (still in original box) Supertrapp exhaust pipe which fits a Yamaha XS1100. It is part number 4MSH411SS; 4MSL1100SS. This was never installed and is still in perfect condition, with the instruction sheet and baffles still in original packaging. I can send photos if you are interested.
