  • Clutch Cable Routing?

Does anyone have a picture handy of the proper routing of the clutch cable (with tank off)? I had swapped the engine on my ‘79SF and forgot to note the routing. I know the cable swings up under the tank to the left side but hadn’t yet found the proper routing to the bars that would avoid tension on a sharp right turn. I scoured manuals and pictures on the internet for clues but all were bit different or sketchy. I can’t even remember if it ended up going through the frame at one point under the tank or beside the tank or if it went in front or behind the handlebar risers?
    Cheers, Dan

OK, I'll settle for a verbal description from anyone on how this cable is supposed to be routed. Every which I try seems to bind in one place or another.

"I see! I see!" said the carpenter as he picked up his hammer and saw. Thanks Bikerphil. Very helpful.

Yep, the cable routing is subject to change depending on which style handlebars are on the bike.

My Specials (including the '79 SF) have the cable routed differently:

I didn't offer any pictures before because they were requested with the tank off.
