  • Wow... This site ROCKS!

I have been looking at different threads within this site for the last couple of hours. I am amazed at the breadth and depth of the knowledge about not only XS11s and XJ11s, but also motorcycles and motorcycling in general. AMAZING!
I happened to buy an XJ1100 Maxim.
I saw it sitting on the front corner in a gas station lot in the middle of nowhere, Tennessee. It was a Yamaha Maxim 1100. That meant nothing to me except that it was a larger bike, I could commute my 45-minute – one way – commute and save a bunch of money on gas (My F-150 GETS 15 – 16 mpg), and, fixing it up would be a fun project. Yep… 1st Motorcycle. (Honda CT-70 when a kid/teen, mountain bike racing 30 years later.)
What a thrill to get into this type of group. Buying the bike was the extra!
I have posted other stuff, but I felt I needed to effuse singularly about my enjoyment in learning from, conversing with, and perhaps someday, riding with all of you fine folk.

      Welcome aboard Jimboreeno!

I just spent a week at the Nashville Gaylord Opryland hotel, bunch of nice locals, really enjoyed it compared to most other business trips!

Another great thing about the site is that reading the new posts prepare you for weird things that might otherwise surprise you out in the middle of nowhere. I try to read them every couple of days.

          Welcome to the site.
I've noticed the handy tip stuff also. My brakes just started locking up on me and a 30 second search on this site netted me about 20 potential problem areas with resolutions. (I'm hoping for a spooge in the master cyclinder).

Glad to hear the good comments about this site.

            (Placing soapbox) AHEM!

The goal and purpose of this site is to make information about the XS11 and XJ 11 available to all who are interested. Along with the "old timers", new folks are always welcome, as there always seems to be new and different ways to solve problems, or sources of information that can be used to our advantage. Be sure to check out the Tech Tips and Off-Site Tech Tips for a broad wealth of information on fixing, modifying, and maintaining these great bikes.

The second purpose of this site is to extend the camaraderie of common ownership. To this end, rallies and get-togethers are encouraged, as is information on riding gear, road reports, and other topics of common interest. However, getting together with other XS/XJ owners is always a hoot. I would encourage everyone to attend a rally now and then so you can put a face with the posters and see what others have done with their bikes.

Finally, don't overlook the Search tab at the top-right of your screen. If you are looking for information, chances are it has been addresed in past threads, and doing a search will often yield useful information.

              Greetings All,

Much like jimboreeno, I am the proud new owner of '78 XS 1100 and couldn't be happier to have been turned onto this site by the previous owner. I have spent the majority of my free time (at home and at work) perusing this site and enjoying the copious amounts of information and knowledge within the different forums. My bike does need a little work, and I honestly couldn’t be more excited about tackling the work head on.

I think this is a great site and I’m sure I will spend many more hours clicking my way through the various pages and learning all that I can about my new bike … or as my wife calls it, my ‘mistress.’

Thanks again, Have Fun and Ride-On!!!

Like you I am a new owner of an xj1100, and I could not be happier that I found this site, I found it doing a google search when I was doing work on my brakes.

It has been a wealth of information, and I would like to thank everyone on the site members and administration that has assisted myself and others in the troubleshooting and repairs.

I look forward to meeting many of you xsives at a ralley sometime soon, ride on and be safe.
