Cam chain tensioner plug

Lost the rubber plug at the end of the cam chain tensioner, anyone found a sure fire way to replace this or even a glue that withstand the engine heat? It was loose before and I cleaned it up and used hi-heat liquid metal but that did'nt work obviously.....seems to me I recall years ago someone had a simple fix for this.....right now I'm at work, maybe someone will comeback with a suggestion before I ride home in the morning.

When I got my 80G it actually had a cork stuck in there. I have since replaced it with a rubber cork I got a real hardware store cost about 75 cents.

RTV silicone will glue in a piece of cork or rubber and stand up to the heat.

Just be sure to clean off all the oil first, RTV doesn't stick to oil!

Wine cork

I got a wine cork at home and some silicone may even have a bit of wine left, will give that a try, thanks Ken and TC.

Just remember - if you're going to 'harvest' a cork for doing this, you don't want to wind the corkscrew all the way through the cork. Come to think of it, you wouldn't want to do that anyways, unless you like floaty bits in your wine.

IIRC, the time I tried this, I started with the cork from a bottle of champagne - no need to worry about the corkscrew. Keep this in mind if you're currently a bit low on brownie points with SWMBO.....

Just the sillicone

Just the sillicone is all that was needed to stop the weeping of oil!

Mine fell out too - I turned one from alloy yesterday and tapped it with a bit of studlock on it for security. The hole is 14mm and has a slight taper.

Lost one on a trip once. I now have a piece of wire bent across it, held to the snout by a small hose clamp.

I used a little bit of JB weld and a modified brass plug that was hollowed out on one side.
