Mike, just looking through eBay at kick start levers, and found one for a TX750. Would this work??? What bend are you refering to???

Dunno what a TX750 lever looks like, is the TX750 that Yammie twin that was a lemon? Betcha it would work. The XS750 triple lever has a slight bend in the lever which makes it lay up against the engine a little better when folded. A 650 lever will work ok though. The 750 lever doesn't fit exactly right but it is ok. The pedal part with the rubber lays up against the chrome airbox cover but I haven't noticed any rub marks in the chrome. It's a little difficult to get the pinch bolt on because the splined shaft lacks a relief groove but you can get it to thread with some determined twisting of your ratchet handle. I'll look around and see if I've got a picture of mine somewhere that I can post. Wish I had a digital camera, I'd just go out and take one. Been holding out for a 5 megapixel job but can't afford it right now...I suppose I should just go to Walmart and buy a $20 cheapie.

          Installing Kick Start...

          Mike,

After talking to you, I picked up a XS750 kick start for my XS11. When I went to install it this weekend, I noticed a bit of a problem. Where my kick start shaft comes out, the bolt notch is at about the 2 o'clock position. The bolt on my kick start however is closer to the 6 o'clock position. How did you get yours installed so that at a rest, the kick start is in a straight 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock position???

Here's a crude drawing of what I'm talking about incase you need a visual.

Any input would be greatly appriciated.

          Thanks,
          ~ Street Rat ~

Not really a problem Rat. If you just thread the bolt through it will work, it'll be a little difficult to turn but it will thread past the shaft splines. If I was to be meticulous I'd have ground a relief into the shaft with a Dremel (actually I don't own one) but being lazy (and detemined) I just made it work as it is. Guess I'm just determined to be lazy!

Hey, nice drawing, a lot better than the artwork in my Clymer manuals which look to have been drawn by old Floyd Clymer himself while in the throws of Parkinson's disease.

LMAO ... thanks for the visual Mike. Needed a good laugh.

And yea, I guess for it being done with MS Paint, it's an okay drawing. I'll give your advise a shot once I get to the house and see if I can make it work.

              Thanks again,

                750 Special kick-lever on 11SF

Here's my XS750S kick-lever installed. The rubber part does touch the chrome airbox cover but doesn't seem to be marring it after several thousand miles. The black sidecover is homemade out of heavy vinyl stock.

You know, my new(er) engine in my H is off a 79, and I have seen the kick start shaft. I think I am going to look around for a lever now, "Just in case"

Any way to know if it works, without a lever?

Grab the shaft with a big pair of channel locks and see if you've got resistance.

                      Resistence like seized?

Or will it turn with difficulty?

Resistance like the engine's compression. Tranny in neutral, should feel engine compression counter clockwise and it should ratchet clockwise.
