  • California get-together

Do any of you Nortenos want to get together for a lunch and to swap lies? Nothing complicated, just meet in, say, Hollister, or Modesto, have a meal and put faces with names? It might be a good way to get the ball rolling on some sort of organized riding at a later time. Perhaps mid-coast, like SLO or Morro Bay, to put it in reach of the Surenos? I'm meeting Diver Ray to exchange valuables in the next couple of weeks, and we'd hoped to make it a small event. Who's in?

That should work for me. I need to try and get it done this month. I've too much going on next month to try and make too many rides.

how I will spend my summer vacation

Hi group Sat. I will be putting my mail on no mail for 3 weeks. Anne and I are heading to Halifax . We will be in Napanee for a couple of days at my Brother in laws then the four of us will head to the Adirondaks for two days then I think we will follow hwy. 3 to 2 and then chugging along through Bangor to St. John to Halifax to Fall River , Anne’s brother’s place .I will be meeting up with Wane Reddin , Bruce and maybe Mark some time Then heading back to the big smoke by way of the south shore of the St Lawrence , I think maybe I will of course look for XS11’s on the way .We’ll be on a silver and blue Nomad done in early depression
        so have fun

Mark is lookin forward to see'n yah Jim ; was out to Marks the other day workin on the ignition of his XJ1100, seems the new "Hyperpak" replacement TCI from New Zealand unit failed the day after installing it, he rode the bike the length of the driveway and it died, it will still run on the original box but only on 2 cylinders, he's peeved and I as well since I'm ridin solo now......I Xpect to see a new bike in his driveway next time I'm out there.

Maybe Mark should convert his xj to an xs ignition system. The parts are still available for them. It shouldn't be too difficult to convert it over. I was running an xj engine in my 80 SG for many years, and the xs pieces bolted right on with no problems.

              California Get Together

This thread seems to have unraveled.

I'd be interested if I can get the bike running by whenever you're planning.

              I'll keep checking.

                    Tomorrow

I am from Georgia, but I am flying into San Francisco tomorrow. My flight arrives at 11:30, and I will be staying in Benicia. Lunch might be a problem, but if there is a place somewhere in between some of you could meet for dinner tomorrow I am game. I have been known to get lost in strange places, but I usually find my way there eventually.

Pat Kelly and I are about 85 miles SE of Benicia... bit of a distance in 100° heat. My XS11 is my only transportation right now and I think I'd melt before I got there...

How long are you going to be in the area? It says in your profile: Pastor, Computer geek, hack golfer
...so are you in Can'tAffordYa as a Pastor, or working on computers, or just to golf...

I'm off work on Tues. Where and when? I'll MAKE Ron come too .
100 is only hot when you're stopped. Ever hear of wind chill factor? 100 deg @ 90 MPH is ony 80 deg or so.

                          You know the area

My flight arrives at 11:30 am, figure another 30-45 minutes to get a rental and hit the highway. According to Mapquest, my hotel in Benicia is approx. 1 hour away, so that really means an 1 and 1/2 at least, I figure I'll get checked in by 2, 2:30. After that I have no plans. Just wanted to check out some sights and see whats about before getting down to work Wednesday morning. I don't know anything about the area, so I don't know where you are in relation to the airport. If you are close there, you could meet me there and we'll hook up then. Up to you guys, I will be lost.

Like Ron said, we/I are/am 85 miles away. I'm watching for someone more local to the bay area to suggest something and I'll try to join in.

Leaving the airport and coming to meet you would I be going further away from Benicia, or in the direction of it?
