Got home about an hour ago. I want to thank all y'all for your prayers and thoughts. I want to start by saying how thankful I am to have such friends in a group of guys who really don't know many other members pesonally, but as a group of strangers we make a pretty good group of friends. Bless you all.
I had a lot of time to think in the last ten days. That damned hospital bed and cieling are evil partners. They can plant such gloomy thoughts into a mans head. You know, a lot of things that we tend to think mean a lot to us now, really mean nothing when you are in the position I was in. Friends and loved ones matter most . Thank you my friends.
The scoop on what happened??? I drove into the side of pick up parked in someone's driveway. I had just pulled out from my buddy's , drive way, following him on his bike. We had turnrned right onto the street, and was I gonna accelerate around his KZ900 ,just to mess with him. I grabbed a quick handful of first gear, and nailed second second at about 7000 rpm and twisted again. Well as I came out of second and was going to decellerate in third, I needed to navagte a left curve in the street, so I leaned it left only to discover. to my horrow, that I had left the &$#'n kick stand down. I couldn't turn, and because of the curve in the road I was forced over the curb, onto a lawn, and right smack in the back of a pick up. I was probaly doing anout 35-40 mph. Not reall verry fast, but enough to move the truck about 3 feet. I think I was kinda detached from the seat at the curb strike, and The wheel of my bike hit the truck right behing it's rear wheel, kinda the wheel whell. I think I hit the side of the bed. I landed to the left, where the driveway meets the street. I hit the streert on my butt,a and lower back The bike landed on my feet then, My buddy was right there to lift the bike off my feet so I could get free of it. A few more guye were right ther, and stood the bike up while my my friend, Pat Kennedy tended to me. I knew Iwas hurt, and didn't even try to get up. Somebody had a cell phone, and called 911. The rest you know.
The way I look at it, is that it was pretty stupid of me not raise the kick stand. Nobodys fault but mine. I gotta go now . Thank y'all again.
