    I'm lorenzoxs...

Ebay kills me. I have a collection of old outboards and haunt their pages keeping an eye out for useful item. But with outboards, the thing is always big and bulky, even if it is old and beat up. I can't tell you how many times I've spent $20 to ship a $9 part.

I've started hiding my Ebay goodies from my wife; is that a sign of illness or just good sense?

My wife has quit asking. UPS and FedX are always dropping of mysterious off boxes of all sizes and shapes. It is like having a birthday every week. Between eBay and on-line shopping, there is always something showing up.

      It is great!

            Ebay Alias.....

Man its good to be back here...... I go by "racin-ranger" on EBAY. And I am sure I have stepped on toes in here and have had my toes stepped on .... I woudl like to say It wasn't intentional. I know whatI wil pay and thats that... lost out on many nice things because of someone paying way to much.

I know what you mean. I wanted a loop style fork brace and I was willing to pay much more for it than the next guy. Funny thing the second highest bidder contacted me about it. I may hve gotten it for $45 but it would have gone another $20 if push came to shove.

It all comes down to who wants it more...

I was looking at that and was considering a trip south to buy it for my son but it but decided to wait for warmer weather. (I think it was on there before and did not get sold.) It looks Sweet! I bought a 1980 Midnight Special I found on e-bay but contacted the guy and asked to look at it if he did not sell it on line. I was uncomfortable buying it sight unseen. He did not sell it so I drove up and bought it.

                    a midnight special?

Hi! To show you how much of a rookie I am (and a gambler) I have never even seen an 1100 in the flesh! Is the one I bought a Midnight Special (maybe the black color gives it away?)? I am really looking forward to getting it back into primo condition, and adding fairing, hard bags, etc etc etc I have a lot of roads I need to ride on...

What you've got there, Tim, is a 1979 Special, and it looks in pretty nice shape already. The Midnight Special was available in 1980 and 1981. If you check out the Pictures section of this site, you'll see what it's all about. Personally, I'm kind of partial to the black and gold scheme of the Midnights.

Keep an eye on e-bay. There are lots of things on there that will fit that bike.

Or, you could keep your Special as is for short rides, and look around for a Standard already configured for touring. Specials are nice, but even if you add a fairing and saddlebags and a trunk, you're still hampered by a small tank. Here's the Standard SWMBO rides and the one I ride . The '81H had the largest tank of them all.

what would be the range of my bike as far as mileage on a tank of gas?
