Hi jazzrat my special does about 100 miles with reserve as well ,that is really wide open on the throttle tho!!!

all those out there hiding stuff from the missus ,thats the fun of it

i work shifts and always try to time it so i catch the post, the more you wait for the postie the longer he takes!!!

you give up on waiting and everything comes at once!!

i had it good at christmas ,every parcel for my bike i said was for my wife for christmas and so couldnt tell her what it was !!!!!

my wife was screaming at me for something the other day ,something about a divorce etc ,guess who knocked on the door in the middle of her opening it to do a runner !!!!
the poor old postie got some verbal and i got a parcel in the head
i found it quite amusing really!!!

dont like deceiving the wife but i love my bike and thats all there is to it!!!!
Don't put all yer eggs into one basket ,,,case

The Special has a 3.97 US gal tank, while the Standard is 5.3 US Gal. Then, the '81 standard version called the Venturer came with a 6.5 US gallon tank. 30 mpg should be possible from any XS in decent tune - call that 120 miles for a Special, compared to 195 miles for the big tank version.

hmmm, I think I might be able to make it... the longest jaunt is about 100 miles, and I will not be going too fast, I don't think... thanks!

I love ebay! recent wins: a fairing 4532320688, some parts: 4534815299, a nice seat that will need recovering: 4534796886, a parts CD: 7960724606, some front fork caps: 4534464049, a front caliper: 5554341919, some front controls: 4530154902, a luggage rack: 4530152758 ... I also bought a fairing and bags from a guy I met on ebay (and actually, my bike was originally listed there), and numerous other things going back longer... if you see me bidding, don't let that stop you, I don't mind losing to a friend, and another item will always come along... future hopefuls: a set of new carb boots, an oil cooler, a Clymer manual (I have the Haynes one), an original tool kit... maybe a big bore kit and a set of rings... and who knows what else!

I am under Parr8hed1. Pretty much restored my 78 off of ebay. I have bought everything from bike parts, to boat parts. I even bought 380' of rope. My friends at work were wondering why buy 380' of rope on ebay? BECAUSE I CAN! My wife even bought an electric breast pump off of ebay, I can assure you that it was new in box! My new son did not know the difference!

I am sfeaster on ebay. I have been addicted to ebay for a long time. I tend to research prices a lot before I buy something though. I have bought anything from books published in the late 1800's, to cameras, to parts for my 1969 mustang project. I also snipe, so if I outbid you in the last 3 seconds...well sorry. sometimes you win a few, sometimes you loose a few. it all depends on how much you are willing to pay. but if I recognize one of your usernames, and I don't "have" to have it, I will probably not bid. but if that is the case, you had better win!

I am a member of another group of ardent ebay users, we pretty much had to say all was fair in love and ebay, and agree to remain friends...
