Somehow I missed this poll. (I do bear a slight resentment to lumping the Navy and Coast Guard together. I served in the Navy from 1964 to 1969 (Navy Officer Candidate School, Newport,RI; Navy Damage Control School, Philadelphia, PA; USS Charles S. Sperry, DD697 - Newport, RI to Southeast Asia war games in '65 and '66; USS Tidewater, AD 31 -Norfolk, VA to the Mediterranean and the '67 Arab / Israeli wasr; your friendly Navy recruiter for Officer Programs, Pittsburgh, PA '67 to '69) I had the unique duty of drafting a doctor who, upon completion of his oath, immediately outranked me. Boy was he unhappy.

1979-2000 Combat Engineer all over the world. Several "real world" deployments. I picked up the b1lock username when we went to Bosnia. I remember going to Vancouver B.C. one weekend to get drunk. We met these young ladies at a bar and one of them asked me what service we were in. When I told her the army she asked me "Ours or theres?" I think I was in ours most of the time.
