US Army / Ohio Army National Guard 1984-1990
11B Groundpounder - Heavy Weaponry Specialist

Just missed Desert Storm and have always felt bad I did.

Basic Training and AIT -Harmony Church, Ft. Benning Ga. Right next to Columbus Ga...aka...a streetcorner named desire!

Most interesting post was in the Aleutian Islands. 25 square mile island with one clump of trees (only trees on the island) and a sign "Now Entering And Leaving the National Forest".
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

            Geronimo !

B/1-501st Inf. (airmobile), 101st Airborne Division. Vietnam veteran 1970-1971. Proud to have followed in the footsteps of some real heroes. Spent my tour up near the DMZ doing search and destroy. Jumped from moving slicks into hot landing zones and been shot at more times than I care to remember.

Carried the PRC 25 combat radio. Would call artillery and mortar fire missions almost daily. Even called in a few red and pink team attacks and had the rare opportunity to shoot the USS New Jersey. You have never heard anything like 16", 2500 pound supersonic projos coming in from over the horizion in groups of 9.

Whole time was an adrenalin rush no money could ever buy. In hindsight, I am lucky to be alive and I live each day thankful I am.

I guess we must have hiked through some of the same mud.I think a few of your crews from there ended up over in Iran when the C130 hit the chopper in the sand storm. We lost some good men on that day. I didn't get any cruises. But I kept trying to get a Caribbean.
