I gotta go with U2's "In God's Country". This was very fitting while I was on my ride in and around Montana last summer.

definitely a Steppenwolf song, but NOT 'Born to Be Wild'

I listened to "Screaming Night Hog " for almost 30 years that I rode a "hardly drivable"

        check out the lyrics:
        http://www.steppenwolf.com/lyr/scrmi.html

THIS song fits a 'hardly' a LOT better than 'Born to be wild' IMHO

I also love the music and play the song several times a week in my shop - LOUD! once a rock'n'roller, ALWAYS a rock'n'roller!

"Midnight Rider" by the Charlie Daniels band runs through my head on mellow rides.
"Highway Star" by Deep Purple does nicely for the twisties.

"They Call Me the Breeze", by J.J. Cale, of course, or if you are riding a little more agressively, then "They Call Me the Breeze" re-made by Lynard Skynard. Then "Ramblin Man" by the Allman Bros., then "Simple Man" by Lynard Skynard, then "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Stones, then...."Tube Snake Boogie" by ZZ top, I got a million of 'em. Like Uncle Spot, once a rocker, always, a rocker! SALUTE!

              Seger song

Actually I think the Bob Seger song that was referred to earlier is "Roll Me Away". It's about riding a bike westbound towards the Rockies.

                      tunes

when i got it wound up i can't help humming the "chase" by giorgio miroder off the soundtrack from the midnight express. its even better blasting on the stereo. its 8 minutes of the greatest pre-disco ever recorded and will have you twisting the throttle off.

Hey, isn't that the theme for "The Art Bell Show"? That is a cool song. I always wondered who did that.

                          Cheers!
