There's really nothing magic about it. I'm been stumped for years why OEM units lag behind my OMP brand regulators.

It's not just on Yamahas either. All brands of bikes I've worked with (the big 4 Japanese, BMW and Moto Guzzi) bikes that have an electromagnet alternator charge better at low RPM with my regulators.

Whats up with the magic black box Geezer sells? Well, he has put some high powered smoke in it. But, does it work you may ask. With the cold and rain, I decided to mount my magic Geezer box to my 80g. But, nows a chance for a before and after test I tell myself. So here is what I found. Mind you, your results may vary. I have a year old AGM battery in my rig. a LED headlight and the upgraded fuse box, so the differences may not seem astounding but any increase in charge rate is good on our aging, under powered (electrically) bikes.
Stock reg/rectifier:
Idle-12.2
2500rpm-13.2
3000rpm-14.1
Geezer magic box:
Idle-12.8
2500-13.7
3000-14.7
So, with the Geezer box, I get FULL output at a lower rpm. Usually, the 11 doesn't hit 14+ volts till around 4k. I also found that at idle, with turn signals and radio on, my led voltmeter doesn't start flashing red till about 2 minutes being stuck at a long light and my LED headlight doesn't start flickering, as quick. Before, it would start flashing after about a half minute stuck at a light. Those of you still running a H4 headlight and OEM, glass fuse box will most likely see more dramatic results. It is worth while upgrade over the stock stuff.

Some eager beaver engineer decided to incorporate the ignition curve into the electronic ignition box. Unfortunately this makes that ignition box a lower production item and therefore a part that's harder to come by after production ends.

Fortunately they only changed the connectors on the regulator/rectifier unit..

Are the Reg/Rec's that are available, for the XS11, the 14.2v type ?

Also is the VRRPM3 the correct R/R for my '83 XJ 750MK ?

I know TCI's are different between early, late and XJ models but the Reg/ Rec's are the same for all XS 11 models and not sure if the plugs are different for the XJ 11 but on oregonmotorcycleparts they have different stock numbers.

JAT different R/R's for the XJ may have something to do with the Alt. having brushes on the XJ and I believe there's more amps produced from the XJ's Alt.

Keep it.......SH and SF won't interchange due to in '81 mechanical timing was removed and incorporated into TCI unit.

I've now shipped the last unit on thew previous special deal. I have 2 more units on hand that are not spoken for so I'm extending the deal for these two. One is ready to go set for the standard charging rate and the other is a day away from shipping so I can either set it to the standard charge rate or to 14.2v for AGM or lithium batteries...

Have you ridden at night since you installed it? Pardon the pun but that's where it really shines. The headlight won't dim as much at idle and will recover sooner with RPM...
