Hi all,
Last weekend I bought a 1978 XS Eleven that was already someones project.
The bike has supposedly sat for years in a garage with 2445 original miles. The guy I bought it from had plans for it but started having children and never found the time. He was in the process of replacing the tank due to rust in the old one. He has periodically started and ran it using a gas can and length of fuel hose he has also changed all the fluids twice. He sold it to me with a replacement tank he found from Utah and a pair of clean petcocks with new gaskets. I have pulled apart and cleaned the sending unit and tested it to confirm it still works. I am in the process today of putting all the tank pieces back together and will add some fuel to verify no leaks then drain and mount back on the bike. As far as I can tell the bike has not been cut up or messed with much at all but it is in need of plenty of TLC.
