  • trailer axle alignment

    Hello folks

I had a trailer axle snap off while hauling some dirt. I bought a new axle, leaf springs, tires, all the bits, but the axle has these alignment spacers that have me stumped. One of them aligns with the leaf spring while the other is off by 3 inches. Will the trailer be ok with just one of these spacers aligning? I dont see what could be the harm. What do you guys say?

Turn the axle 90º so they will lay horizontally on the springs, center your axle and run one u-bolt on each side through the openings. It should work fine that way.

Make sure to tighten the bolts attaching the bed to the leaf springs. That slack can cause wobble and increases stress on everything and if you put a load on may cause wiggle wobble and role and if you are going any speed you do not want that I have seen the result.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.
