My soundcard is full duplex design, it allows capturing while playing! SO..I just fire up my old Soundblaster Wave editor program, set it to record, then start playing the YouTube video, when it's done playing, stop the audio recorder, then edit/trim the audio file, and save it to the hard drive. Then I convert it to an MP3 using LAME, but you could also use iTunes or WIndows media Player....or a variety of other programs(apps) available.
I haven't checked out the site/program that Kevxs posted. It might allow you paste the youTube URL into it, and then it may perform the conversion into an audio file???
Be aware that the sound quality of a YouTube video will not be as good as a high quality iTunes MP4 or MP3 file, but for FREE, it's still listenable! I did this for a clip that was posted a while back on my other bike email/list...where Morton Downy, Jr joined with Sting during one of his concerts and performed "Flawlessly" a rendition of Driven to Tears!!
Another one was a Xmas special concert/show that Eric Clapton was in with Traci Chapman when he performed her song Give Me One Reason . It's a great version, I remember when I heard Traci performing her song and how LAME the instrumental portion of the climax of that BLUES song was...and I thought to myself that I bet if E.C. were to do it, it would be much better, and then years later I came across that version, and wasn't disappointed!!!

Then,
I got a audio message from 'Microsoft' about having done something I shouldn't, a phone number to call to prevent bad things from happening, and if I were to leave the warning page that popped up before doing so, bad things would happen. May have asked for money, I don't remember.
So I closed anything I had running and ran Malwarebytes and AVG which turned up clean.
Didn't turn off/reboot until today, when I rebooted in safe mode, updated Malwarebytes and did a full scan which found nothing.
Gee, should I EVER play the couple songs I grabbed? No80 SG

Hey Dean,
A little research revealed that the clipconverter.cc site has gone thru some changes, here's a comment from someone on the "Web of Trust" site regarding the changes:
This site used to be great. Then a year or so ago I noticed an increase in pop up ads - which was ok considering the Clipconverter's usefulness and great service that the site provided.
However when I try to use the site now, the pop-up is one of those bogus Virus alerts that forces you to click on the 'ok' button and ring a phone number to rid your computer of viruses.
DO NOT CLICK ON THE OK BUTTON AND DO NOT RING THE USING THE PHONE NUMBER PROVIDED.
Computers cannot be scanned for viruses remotely. This is more than likely to be some sort of a Scam.
At first, I thought it might have been Windows Digital Rights Media acting up on you, but then again, it usually only affects songs/media that you may download from commercial sites that have the DRM and licenses embedded into the media, and that's what Microsoft's DRM is monitoring, and if you were to receive a "COPY" of that file without the accompanying LICENSE, then it wouldn't let you play it on your machine!
SO...if you haven't already DELETED the files you downloaded, just check their properties, their file suffix to make sure that they are MP3's and not hidden EXE files. I have my windows file explorer VIEW settings to SHOW file suffixes, NOT to hide them, so that I can tell when it's an MP3 , AVI, MPG, EXE, BAT, etc!!! IF they are just MP3's, then you are okay to play them!
BTW, that website is based out of Munich, Germany, and so they aren't necessarily bound by DRM policies!?

Thanks for the research TC.
Those did come as mp3 files, malwarebytes scans em clean, but I'll probably just get rid of em.
Just used those Firefox add-ons. Worked ok, though a bit more involved.
One of the songs had like a 10 second introduction that was simple to get rid of on the clipconverter thing, not so as far as I saw on the media converter add-on.
Sorry for using up your thread space Mack. Figured others might be interested.80 SG
