Oh baby, I LIKE the concept, but the engine... If the engine tune is anything like the Bolt engine, it'll be making just under 50 hp and 57 ft/lbs at the rear wheel with a 6,700 rpm redline. From 942cc, that isn't terribly much. I had a VStrom 1000 (996 cc, 9,500 rpm redline) that dyno'd at the rear wheel 86hp and 62 ft/lbs, had tons of grunt down low but a decent top end. Also a smooooooth 90 deg V configuration with 98mm bore x 66mm stroke which allowed higher rpm with the shorter stroke.

For a "Scrambler" bike, I would think the tune would yield more hp up top, but not sure how you deal with the rpm handicap (6,700 redline) as the bike is a relatively square bore/stroke at 85mm x 83mm. That is similar in ratio to the XS1100 at 73mm x 68mm, so maybe they can get a bit more up top without losing a whole lot of bottom end. The Bolt is good for just over 100 mph, which is more than needed in the technical sense but not a lot of excitement considering my 1982 Honda CX500 (496cc) will do that.

XSR900 is looking good as well...

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

ERM-- That is a cool bike, probably able to do a lot of things pretty well. Would love to take one on a little trip, and do some off roading. A little surprised by the weight, though, seems a little heavy.
