    Fork Brace

    Could a fork brace from a XS750 be modified/bored to fit a XS1100?

If it's a steel loop type that bolts on with the fender bolts it should fit right on there. I used to have one of those on my SG.

To be clear, this type of fork brace will mount to XS650, 750, 850, 1100, and probably several others.

          Did the fender fit

I'm curious about getting a pair of them as they look fairly rigid and the installation looks to be pretty easy.

Did you fender fit back on without modification after you installed the brace?

Here's a pic of it on my SG. It fit's fine with the stock 100/90/19 tire as that's what a 650 - 1100 has on the front. I had to bend some edges to get the 110/90/19 on though.

This pic is after I wrecked but it's the best one I have of that brace. BTW, I tweaked that brace in the crash and is now one of the parts on my wall of shame in my garage.

Thanks Phil. Not as glad as I am.

I blame the injuries on age, a botched landing, and failure to pay attention to the road. Thanks to my helmet and jacket it wasn't worse. It sure could have been the way my helmet slapped the pavement.

That one in that pic is now part of the Tulsa landfill. It got folded nearly in half and ABS doesn't react well to that kind of treatment.

I have another V on there now but it's not in nearly as good a shape as the old one. It stops the bugs though.

Glad he's improving! Wife(specially wife) and I know the position he's in very well, as I had the T-bone accident last June on my Honda ST1100 and spent two months in hospital. Even having full gear on and a helment, brain injury left me in same scenario for a period of time, aside from titanium plates to hold me back together again.

The only down side to the loop type brace is how well they work. If you put the front tires between your legs, grab the bars and turn you can see the tube type brace flex. The T-Kat brace does NOT flex under the same test. Just saying.. And yes, I've had both types.

Totally agree Diver Ray.........as I have tested both in same manner, and opted for the T-Kat fork-brace.
