my grandfather bought them new in 1970, and i rode them as a kid...

hopefully my kids will ride them too, if i can manage to undo the anti motorcycle programming from their mother




They're still 100% original, down to the grips.

I have one too..... Hope my grandkids get to enjoy it when they are old enough! Grandson William's Mom & Dad will DEFINATELY allow it! Not sure about the other grandchildren though



Honestly, this bike would bring more $$$$ than any one or two of my XS11's. Ole' guys like "me" remember them as kids and are paying STUPID money for these. These bikes in "SHOWROOM" condition I've seen bring $7k+. Crazy stupid money for a bike that was about $500 new.

The trail 90's don't seem to do too well as they were kinda ugly, the mini-trail 50's don't seem to either, but the early 1970's CLUTCH model (K1) CT70 is the KING OF $$$$$ in the market. The SL70 (looked like a real bike) does pretty good but the parts availability it bad for those.

There are tons of re-pop parts available for them. I have yet to replace the last needed item, rusty bars. But they are available re-pop for only about $60. There are a number of guys selling the tires you need on evil-bay. You can get a pair to your door for less than $100.

I have a '71 CT70. Monkey bike. Never used the clutch on it. Metallic Orange. I think I have close to 10 CB's of that era, and at-least two of them have the Metallic Orange paint. That Blue CT above looks close to OEM paint, but something does not look right about it. Missing the metallic sparkle or something? Re-paint?

I had a QA-50, then a Trail70 in blue, just like yours.

The QA-50 had transmission issues. They were a 2 speed manual shift, with no clutch... kinda semi-uatomatic.

Mine malfunctioned 4 times. In second gear, it would slip. I could hold up on the shifter with my foot and it would stay engaged!

Honda dealer in Tulsa worked on it several times, wouldn't stay fixed for long.

Can't believe guys are paying $7k for one now! Dangit! I knew I shouldn't have sold mine! Lol

Not hard to believe the QA-50's are still cheap, though. They were lotsa trouble.

YES. I repainted it. It is EXTREMELY close with the necessary metallic content but it is off a LITTLE bit. This particular bike is probably a $2k(+/-) bike. Definitely NOT a high $7k dollar one. It is also the K0 model (like Brak's red one, cant see the other well enough) and the K0 is a 3-speed auto. They are not nearly as sought after as the K1 (clutch model).

The "Z"50 brings a very respectable $$ but no where near the $$$ the older CT70s bring. I'm pretty sure the QA50 is the cheapo of the bunch.

As the CT70 evolved it lost it's folding bars and the one-piece headlamp/speedo, gained turn signals and bigger lamps, changed the pipe design, different foot pegs, and etc. The later models don't get nearly as much $$$. I think the CT70 can be licensed in probably most (if not all states). Conversely, the QA & Z are too small on displacement. That MAY BE one of the reasons they do not command the same $$. Mine has a valid Georgia plate & insurance on it.

If ya' see one you can get for a few hundred bucks.... GRAB IT! But make sure it's a OEM HONDA with an OEM HONDA engine not the Chinese imitation bike or a Chinese engine replacement... they aren't worth 10cents in resale.

Thanks guys, and for the record, i'll never sell. They go perfectly with my 72 Starcraft boat, which i also grew up in



Hopefully i'll be able to get back into racing next year...
these make great pit bikes.
