Ehh, to bring-on a new era of bikes. Same reason Suzuki and Kawasaki stopped making their GS & KZ bikes respectively. However, Yamaha has the XJR across the pond, and Suzuki has something similar. Some say it's because the engine was bullet-proof, and Yamaha was losing money on the bikes with lack of trade-in's, but I've never seen or heard anything from Mother Yammy stating as-much. I'd be more curious as-to why GM quit making the 3800 motor . . .

Abdolutely some of the most positive things I've heard in a while here, pertaining to our XSessive scoots.

Another good report! That motor was one maintenance free, tough, and excessive fuel mileage motor..........least was being in my ole' previously owned 91' Pontiac Bonneville.

Bouncing off Moto, it was GM's long-running engine, that was pretty strong and reliable. Only issues was the intake leaking, which they solved on the Series III with the aluminum intake.

Fixed a lot of them that had an intake full of antifreeze because of that plastic manifold. The EGR would burn a hole in the water jacket.

I purchased a '98 Riviera with the Supercharged 3800 ... it only had 3,100 mi. on the odometer.

Wonderful car! I drove it for 268,000 trouble-free miles, until it was totaled ... while sitting at a stoplight.

Two other cars were involved in a high-speed intersection collision ... one of them spun out and totaled my Rivi ...

I'd most likely still have that car were it not for the accident.
