XS Rally Long Distance Ride-Packing

No stranger to long distance riding (been awhile), but let's hear what you guys are packing? The advantage you guys will have over me is the trunk and bags. I'm not putting them on for either ride this year, so everything will be in my camping backpack. I have a pretty good list of stuff I'll take, but maybe something you mention will be a good idea also.

Gear:
Clothes
Rain gear
Small tool roll (including extra wire, soldering gun)
small first-aid kit
fuses
clutch/throttle cable
engine oil
tire patch kit
small air compressor (?)
GPS
Cell phone charger
Powerbank cellphone charger
Fuel Canteen
Lighter

baby wipes

Try CO2 inflator head plus cartridges in place of compressor.

Mylar emergency blankets are good for cover, laying on ground etc.

Good list.

I use my Olympia safety vest that goes over all my jackets indispensable. 14mm seat wrench in one pocket. Extra keys. Has a waterproof pocket on back.

Fork bag is good for inflator and seldom used stuff if no fairing.

Pre-run the cables next to the clutch and throttle before the trip. tape a bit of plastic over each end to keep the crud out, and they don't take space, and are ready when needed.
I've wired my bikes to take a 12V power connector so the USB chargers plug in. Look around, as some of the chargers can give you 2 Amps on one side, plus 1 Amp on a second plug. Things can charge as you are riding.

My big fear is a flat on the road. I have a plug with a CO2 inflator. I pack about 6-7 cartridges for it. While I have never used it on my bike, I did bail out a Beemer rider with a back flat. That how I found out 2-3 cartridges will not fill a tire. We had enough air to get him to a gas station riding on the shoulder. Course a plug kit is useless if you have a tubed tire. A 12v air compressor would be good but it will drain you battery in a hurry if you don't run the engine while using it. A small LED flashlight would be a good addition to your kit. Its tough to figure out what to pack when you have limited space. I rely on intense inspection of the bike before a trip and the overall reliability of the XS. I blew a cam plug out on one of the MOM events. Something I would never have carried as a spare. But, it was the MOM and one of the members had a set. My ace in the hole is my AAA card.

Not to diminish a comrade but a riding buddy is about the best tool you can carry along. If you go with a group its all the better. Especially if you all communicate and carry different parts and tools. If one tool box can be good 2 or 3 can be much better. And there is no tool that goes in the box to help you get that bike off you in a mishap or misstep parking it. Plus who will take pictures we can laugh at ?

Hard candy, helps me stay alert when I get tired
Small flashlight (Mini-Mag Lite, 2 "AA")
Side stand "foot plate"
Light and heavy gloves
Extra visor for helmet
Registration paperwork, laminated to help survive abuse
Roll (or part roll) of TP
Cargo net and bungee cords
Aspirin
Monkey Butt or baby powder
Compass
I wear glasses so carry an extra pair.

I used to carry more, such as a 12v inflator and tire plug kit, never used so no longer carry them.

An extra piston or two with rings, rear wheel bearing, crank seals, drain plugs for oil pan and middle/final drives, extra washer-headed bolt that screws into the gear shaft behind the clutch basket, extra u-joint, liquid gasket, extra clutch handle, clutch/throttle cables, fuses...

Oh wait. Maybe that's just me on my trips out east.
