    How's it goin'!

I've been away from XS11s for a while; found out Mom has cancer so I kind of lost interest in fuzting with my bikes. I survived a major heart attack last Monday and I made it to the ER in time to spend the better part of last week in a couple of hospitals getting two stents put in my heart.

After waking up on the right side of the dirt again this morning I talked with my doctor and she says I'm going to live if I don't get more stupid than usual.
So now I'm a definite non-smoker and riding a motorcycle while taking two different blood thinners is probably one of those "more stupid than usual" activities I'm supposed to avoid but will do anyway just because.

I'm actually having a pretty good time being alive, I'm just moving a little slower but I think this is going to be fun!

    .

      Welcome back

Geez, glad you made man, start slow but exercise I'm told is good for recovery. My dad had a major one and needed a quadruple bypass. He was a new man after. All the best.

        Welcome to the club!

Don,t remember having a heart attack, put still had 3 stents put in 10 years ago. Lots more energy right after that episode. Brother had 7 heart bypass surgery, mom had 4, other younger brother had 3. I can still smell the green grass, or snow for that matter. Glad you made it to the hospital in time.

                  Thanks, guys!

You know, it's absolutely amazing how being almost-dead adds so much to life that when you wake up not-dead it's really difficult to describe. See, I was awake when the stents were put in and it was like someone took their foot off a squished garden hose. I could feel myself coming back almost immediately.

Then the drugs kicked in and I got sent to La-La Land for the night. I woke up in the ICU with the Star Trek (TOS) bridge sound track playing somewhere and tubes and wires and hoses everywhere.

Anywho, it worked and I was up and walking around that day; gave it another couple of days for tests, check for leaks or bad reactions and I was out of there and back home!

If you can find some way to 'not do that' I wholeheartedly recommend it. Ouch....

                  .

After a major heart attack like that, I'm so happy to hear that you're still alive and kicking, Scott! And on the mend, it certainly sounds like!

At the same time, I'm saddened to hear of your Mom's cancer diagnosis.

You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

                      All the best ...

Hey Scott! I was literally going to post a thread yesterday asking where you've been and got side-tracktracked. I won't offer condolences for your mother's cancer because I truly believe anything is possible, and you got your strength from somewhere, so no-doubt your mom is just as strong as you! She'll be in my prayers, and hopefully by the grace of God she beats cancer like many others, and you both live strong for many more years to come.

Glad you kicked that heart attack's ass! One more thing though, just make sure you let everyone know you had a heart attack and carry Nitro tabs. I had a professor tell us he had them, and that was the first tthing I looked for when he had another one in class (saved his life). Rest-up, and don't be a stranger! I truly enjoy reading your old posts for reference, aandlook forward to your next one!

Give it a few more weeks before deciding to stop riding entirely.

I had open heart surgery in 2003, stayed off for a while, and now just ride slower and shorter. Stay off the major highways. Sold my XSs to Eastcoaster last year but still have an old Kawasaki Police Special that I love to tinker with and a custom Harley that I'm a bit scared of. Just owning one allows you to still think of yourself as bad azz.

                          Keep the forked end down.

                            I agree

ya so what, you'll be on thinners. Why does that affect your ability to ride.
? They never took my dads licence away from him and he was 84. You'll find that now all your valvesw are working again that you'll be far more alert and in Gemeral"healthy". I fugure you'll be better in the saddle than you ever have been for quite some time. on the motorcycle too!!!!
