      Life's X-pectancies

BLAH...BLAH...BLAHHH... BLAH, BLAH, BLAAAHHH...I'm so busy spoutin' off at the pie hole...that when a gentleman (from Pittsburgh) asks a question...I go and forget my (Scranton) manners.
And don't answer...in fact I almost ignored him.
      (note, I said ALMOST)

"Where could one get a copy of the book? Thanks"
      "underdog"

Well ol' buddy...you could start by goin' to:
      www.merriamcycles.com

And along with that book you may discover a wealth of XS 1100 knowledge, + a GR8 buncha' people there to help you with virtually anything related to your (or any) XS 1100.
      NO, I don't work there...
I just wished I lived up the street, so I could dive their dumpster.

      It is a GREAT Book...

          Re: My Life X-pectancy...

Steve, you're as long winded as ever and I'm still quick tempered so I'll apologize for the jackass comment but not the rest.

You were going to eMail me your contact info and a picture of the part you needed. You never showed me the helmet. I was clearing a spot for a new (to me) laser printer for my business when I ran across my Bell parts kit. I remembered you needed a part but I still don't know which one!

I like all bikes that have something special about them and if I were rich, my garage would look like a museum. Some bikes are faster than the XS11, others are better handling and some are prettier. I’m real happy with my XS11 and when I can no longer get parts to keep it in service; I’ll either make them or get some other beast to ride.

Motorcycle magazines are for the most part an extension of the marketing department of the Japanese motorcycle companies and most of the XS11 design was copied from the MV Agusta 850. Lots of bikes have the engine turn backwards it’s nothing new.

Now if you want that helmet part, I still need to know which one and were to send it too.

I’m dyslexic and if it weren’t for computers and spell checkers, I would have never earned that BA degree that I can’t seem to use.

When my hair gets long and shaggy, I get accused of looking like Jerry Garcia but I’m not much of a Dead Head. I plan to ride up to Skaget Valley casino on the 6th to see Blood, Sweat and Tears in concert.

I wish you all the garlic on your scrambled eggs that you can handle. ;o)

back then (1977) most (big) Motorcycle buyers were in their early 30's...I don't know many 80yr. old's who can or want to change their piston rings. (X-cept Denny's dad, when he's 80)

I wanted to address this point separately. It takes a full line of engine parts available to keep a fleet of any vehicle in service. Otherwise we will be cannibalizing many bikes with little wrong with them to keep others running. This is a sad fact of riding old Japanese bikes. Sometimes it makes me want to get a Harley.

                Tony,
Dude, it was that BIG white BELL STAR 2 that was sitting on my lap, BOTH mornings...it was YOU that commented on the blue annodized parts on an 'older' Bell...it was the sad story of me trying to keep alive a DINOSAUR...like that old Bell..that prompted you to:
                1. hand me a napkin (thanks, again)
                2. Promise (on your eyesight) that you would send me those parts
I hope you haven't gone blind yet...
I told you then...and it looks like I'm a'gonna have to tell you again...MY name...AND ALL my contact info...is RIGHT HERE!!!
I was to busy wiping tears outta' my eyes to write down my info...
                So you said you'd remember...and you didn't
Now what am I suppose to do?...

C'mon Tony...when you let your hair get that long-n-shaggy you look like a 250 pound lollipop that fell on, and got stuck to a REALLY hairy dog...then some kid came along and pulled you off.
And if you keep this up you're gonna get run over by a MV Agusta 850...to find out that it isn't an 'in-line 4' like the XS 1100
RIGHT? and that WAS what we wuz talkin' 'bout...wuzn't it?

How about this for a compromise...every other bike "IN THE ENTIRE WORLD" is better, faster, bigger, taller, nicer, sweeter, cooler, quicker, (and ALL THAT) than ANY YAMAHA XS 1100...so why don't you sell me yours?

goin' down to the Three Dog night concert...the next time we meet...I'll tell you the story of how they got their name, from the Aboriginies...
Aboriginies?? I thought it was the Eskimos! I didn't think it got that cold in Australia? I had heard that the Eskimos would describe how cold"COOL" of a night it was by how many dogs it took to sleep with to keep warm, moderately cool, 1 dog, etc. so a really "COOL"/cold night was a 3 dog night! So the band was a really COOL band!?

I like Blood, Sweat, and Tears also, that's my era for sure!

                  History shows again and again,

                    Re: X-Pecting life...

I'll let you win the argument that I forgot and if you gave me your contact info, I didn't make it home with it. So you waited all these months and never though to remind me?

So I still don't know what part you need or where to send it too. I don't think you showed it to me and I'm pretty sure you're thinking about somebody else commenting on the blue parts. If you need pivots, I have aluminum ones in silver and gold and plastic ones in black. Sorry, no blue ones. Stop being a PITA and eMail me your contact info or you'll have to hope I remember to bring the kit to Montana this summer.

You must be thinking about some other bike the MV Augusta was a transverse mounted in-line 4 with a shaft drive just like the XS11 but it came out years earlier and cost a hell of a lot more.

BTW Steve, you're at least as ugly as I am, you've got no valid reason to point fingers here.

Like I said before, I like all kinds of bikes and I'm not loyal to just one make or model. You want my XS11s, I’ll sell you all 3 and all my spares for 3 grand. It’s more than they’re worth but I’m partial to them.

                    Tony

                            Tony,
Calm down...it was that OTHER guy...

"So i think you two should kiss and make up ....................MITCH"

                            who mentioned kissing...
I never even considered letting you kiss my A**, not even for one second, I PROMISE.

Now about those helmet parts...I have since acquired a "new" (to me) Shack Daddy, ORIGINIAL (made in Mexico) replica German (motorcycle) helmet (in Black)...so I've been busy re-learnin' how to "eat bugs" all over again.

And besides...I thought I would send you a PM about those parts once it became PERFECTLY CLEAR that you had, in deed forgotten.
And since I neither go around putting my business on the internet, or calling people "jack-asses" (like some)
I only mentioned it (your PROMISE) after you began to call me names

I need (in NON-TECHNICAL jargon) the 'little button dealie" that secures the face shield when you have it closed.
There are 2 of these 'little button dealies' and they 'screw in'.
I need ONE (1= to stop the whistlin') or a coupla' them (need spares too) and I'd LOVE to have a SET of 'spare ratchets' preferrably in blue...but I'll take whatcha' got.
                            THANKS.
Now for the contact info...I'll PM it to ya'...OK?

Hey steve and geezer, First of all Id love to sit at a table havin a canadian beer with you two.Just watch and listen, and perhaps laugh my head off.You guys spound like alot of fun. Im sure I would learn something with all your lovin darts back and forth. You crazy kids.!! ive had my XS from day one. 26 years. Cant say that the 1100 is the best bike of all time but I love mine . it does do evry thing well. The bike is mint and has outlasted many other models. It gets more looks these days because of its vintage and i drive it alot like I would a newer FJ. It still goes like hell for an old girl.I know I aound like a broken record too.I do fear the day I will require major component replacements. I may have to put it in a crate and ship it off to merrriams.Mine has 70 thou on it and my cam chain still has half the adjuster to go.Ive learned so much from this site. the folks (and you two) are awesome resources. I do beleive the last line in the 78 issue of cycle mag states that respect must be given to this bike or one will find themselves reaped by the whirlwind.(or wirl wind).(some thing like that) As for which one of you is uglier I"ve never met you guys. you both are smart though.oh oh are we going to debate whos smarter?Time to crack another cold one( a real beer) and sit back and listen.I think youre both right onalot of stuff.
Fence riding canadian. polite aint I?
