you need to go back and read the description on these a bit closer. He clearly states that he did not list shipping in the listing because it is always wrong and that the pipes will be shipped in a box via UPS. Don't have any idea how much that will come to, however I am guessing at around 50.00. If you want them you better grab them. I already own two sets or you would not still have this opportunity.

Hmmm, I did not read the item description as I usually just check location and shipping. Further reading shows UPS shipping as mentioned.
Now all I have to do is decide if I want to yank the Kerker 4 into 1 off and go back to stock. I bought this one in non-running condition as a project bike for this winter till my '79 decided it wasn't going to start using the starter after blowing the 30 amp main and having the starter button self destruct.
The '80 MNS is kind of a back burner item right now as I wrestle through semi-restoring and modding the '79 Special so I can have a reliable ride this spring.
The issues I see with the pipes will be restoration to as new.
Anyone know of a plating shop that will do black chrome?
I seem to recall watching an Dennis Gage's automotive show that had a guy on whose shop does chrome parts restoration from what you have by rebuilding the metal through plating and polishing. I don't remember the name but the show I watched they took an old car's headlight bezels that were just this side of scrap and totally redid them to as new condition.

All of my bikes are projects, maybe one day I'll have them running.
will these fit a 78E? I have some pretty nasty patches on my pipes.
Nope, not really, mods required.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

Only mod would be each muff hanger.

I have researched having the plating redone for years and it is basically a cost prohibitive proposition. Just like chrome the problem is that the exhaust is used and most companies don't want to deal with that. The carbon and grunge buildup would have to be totally chemically removed before any plating process could begin and I am assuming the cost for that outweighs what you would be willing to pay. Your best bet would be to have a set of pipes such as these blasted then coated with a high temp ceramic based coating such as cerakote. That is what I am looking into and is similar to what Mack had done on his spica restoration.

Maybe exhaust studs, maybe not. Rear brake pedal has nuttin' to do with the exhaust. Still an excellent buy for what looks to be a solid OEM exhaust system and not beat to death. Heck, repaint it with Duplicolor high-temp black, that stuff is tenacious.

Re-chrome would be to expensive and I'm happy with the Kirker that will get Cerocoated by me once I descale and remove the rust from it.
Discretionary funds are being used to get the '79 running first. Plus my bike shed needs a porch so I can park all my garden and lawn tools under it so I can have room to work instead of just park n' store.
