So, it had to be done. Ben keeps posting ads and now I have an itch for the Venture. Have not done a Venture vs. Kaw Voyage yet, but with regard to comparing the two Yammies, how do they compete? I enjoy my bike's power, etc., but wondered how it faired next to a Venture? Would an XS fully bagged with fairing do better?

well for starters the Venture weighs a good 150 lbs heavier than an XS so like Brant says the XS will out perform the Venture....comfort wise the Venture has alot more of that than the XS. I'd wager that folks who ride the big touring rigs care less about straight line perfomance and handling in the twisties so again the XS prolly outshines the Venture...as I get older I find I want more creature comforts so it that dept the Venture has it in spadesLast edited by madmax-im; 09-12-2014, 02:02 PM.1980 XS650G Special-Two

Interesting. Even with a de-tuned V-Max engine, XS still runs quicker?1979 XS1100F

The Venture runs about the same HP @97 but as was mentioned it is a bit heavier so basically it would be near the same as running the XS 2 up.Greg

Not having owned one but based on what I have heard the excessive plastics used on the Venture are hard to find and have not held up well over time. We are fortunate the sheer numbers of XS11s has left us an abundance (though dwindling) of spares.

If you want to go fast the XS is the one, but if you want to do it for 500 plus miles a day then the Venture is the one. The Venture Royal has cruse control, on board air ride system, CB and radio. The fasted year for the Venture was the 83 year, the standing ¼ mile was 12.69 sec. @ 103.92 mph. The engine rpm @ 60 mph is 3313.

The VMax is the fastest bike I have been on, but if I had to ride long distance I would take the XS. The VMax did not fit me. I only kept the VMax for a week.80SG, 81SH, 80 standard parts bike, 81SH parts bike
